I had one of these in my shop doing the same thing and it was the mainboard.

have a new lava A9. But it hangs when the warranty registration promts to register warranty service, which propts regularly within few hours. So please suggest how to register warranty service or to stop propting.

I had the same problem with a Sony VPL CS1. It's not the mainboard, but the blue filter - cost to repair runs around $500 US.
