How do i get on the HDMI input channel?

After purchasing a panasonic blu ray player i bought an HDMI cable to maximise picture and sound. Unfortunately i can't find the input channel for the connection....i have 6...but none seem to locate it! I have a Sony Bravia tv. If you could please help with a solution to the problem it would be much appreciated.....i know it's probably something simple.

cheers

On your remote, press the input button. Bump down to HDMI and press enter. You are now using the HDMI input.

Hello Jeff. I just have a basic question for you. Was the Blu Ray player turned on when you first plugged it into the tv? TV's are becoming so complicated that they are becoming less user friendly. Try setting your tv to the first HDMI input using your tv remote's input button. Then unplug the HDMI cable from the tv, make sure the player is turned on then plug the HDMI cable into the left most input if horizontal or top input if vertical. Hopefully if you do that and have the input selected, it should work for you.
Also: Whi9le attaching the cable, I find it helpful to have it in a position where I can see the tv, because when a device hooks up the screen usually flashes or turns blue or something similar.

Hope this helped
-Chris

How do I hook up my blu ray to my floor model panasonic tv

You can use an HDMI cable if both your tv and Blu-ray player have that imput. That will give you the best picture and sound. Both video and audio are carried through the one cable. Next down in quality are Component cables. You may need to use these if your tv doesn't have an HDMI input. These 3 cables are red, blue and green. They will give you the picture but no sound. This is normal . All component cables need red and white composite cables for audio. When you have made your choice of HDMI or Component, click the input button on your tv remote and scroll down to either HDMI 2 or 3 or 4(if you used an HDMI cable) or choose "component" to allow the signal to come through. Make sure you at least have the blue-ray player on so that when you do see it on the screen, you'll know which input you chose to get it to come through. Remember, after watching your Blu-ray, remember to turn your input back to your cable setting so you can watch tv again

Just bought the sony bdp s350, bought the cable

What type of TV? Plasma / LED / LCD.. ?
Typically you should run through your HDMI ... most of the 5 RGB etc.. in the back can only be used on one of the inputs only for high def... HDMI is easier but more expensive cables..

I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround sound has a dvd player built in and only one input which I have my new Sharp TV plugged into. How can I hook up my Blue Ray . I have the HDMI cables

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

Blu ray connect to my sc-pt660

as far as hooking up your blu ray player to the sc-pt660, the only real way to utilize the surround sound (with true surround sound) is through the optical audio out. You need to connect your blu ray player through hdmi to your tv and then connect your blu ray player to your surround sound using the optical audio out/in. I, personally have the sc-pt660 hooked up through component cables so I don't waste an HDMI input on my TV. Except for cd's, there is no reason for you to use the actual dvd player part of the surround sound considering you have a blu ray player. In conclusion, hooking your blu ray player and the sc-pt660 up to get better video simply isnt possible (your blu ray player alone gives the best possible resolution, 1080p). As far as audio goes, run an optical audio cable from your blu ray player to your sc-pt660 to get true surround sound.

What Blu Ray to buy for ONKYO TX-NR801 for Dolby TrueHD, etc???

Hi, as the Onkyo receiver you have does not have HDMI switching, the only thing it will do for you with a Blu-Ray player is process the audio signals.  The video from the BR player will have to go directly to an HDMI input of your hi def TV.  In this case, either Sony or Panasonic BR player will be equal.  Assuming you keep the Onkyo unit you have, you would want to use the optical digital output from the BR player as the audio source into one of the optical, digital audio inputs on the Onkyo.  In an ideal world, your receiver would some that does do HDMI switching.  This way, all the audio and video signals from any audio or video source would be automatically switched and channeled through 1 simple HDMI cable into your hi def TV.  This will make you life simpler as ther would be no need to select an appropriate input on the TV, as well as one on the receiver.  That said, buying a new receiver in addition to a BR player is more costly.  Good luck.  Let us know how it goes.
