With the phone UN-PLUGED and powered OFF. Hold the home button and plug into a computer using I-tunes. Continue to hold till the restore screen starts on the computer. You will restore the device to factory and loose everything but it will be useable.

Keeps powering on and off.

Keep in mind since you cleaned it out, only have the AC adaptor hooked up to rule the battery out. If the laptop stays on with only the ac adaptor hooked up and doesn't shut off then you know that the battery is faulty. If it still shuts off even with just the ac adaptor hooked up then it could be the ac adaptor.

Also check one more thing, with only the ac adaptor hooked up, wiggle the cord where it plugs into the laptop and see if the laptop shuts off, if it does then the dc jack on the motherboard is loose and needs to be resoldered back into place so it stays put.

Picture on 15 year old Trintron comes on briefly then goes black

if the sound goes out its not a tube problem . a bad tube would have no effect on the sound .you problem (my guess) is in the power supply . a modern tv power supply has parts of it that stay on all the time unpluging it is not the problem its when you plug it in ! the power supply gets a JOLT . you might get away with it ,you might not . thats why we install surge arrestors on power plugs and with expensive tvs i recomend a UPS a power unit that keeps the tv powered even wnen the line power is out . thats keeps everthing in the sets nice and even ,so the tv lasts longer ... a modern tv turned off uses about 1.40 in electric a YEAR in standby mode , so what are you saveing if you send you set to the landfill early and have to buy a new one ? over 1.40 in electric ? . turn down you water heater or something else simple dont be blowing out you electronics for the sake of a few cents ..... good luck .... if this answer helped please rate a 3 or 4 , this high rateing will hepl keep me in the paid answer department . thank you

Toshiba 40pw8db with colored lines horizontally

there are some boards in the tv that plug in (push down) have the power off and unplugged have a look around, and see if any boards have come loose, stay away from any thick red wires (EHT) DO NOT PULL At the Gray Rubber Caps that go to each gun (tube) RED GREEN Blue, this can carry a heavey charge even if the tv is off and has been for days, regards mark
