My computer no longer recognizes my Casio Exilim Camera

I have the Casio Exilim Digital camera in the cradle provided with the camera, plugged it in to the power outlet, plugged it in to my computer in the USB port, but the computer says "unknown device" in the USB port. The computer is no longer recognizing my camera as being attached. So, I am unable to pull up photos from the camera or down load them. Plus, now when I remove the camera from all the plugs and the computer, it will not turn on.

I ended up solving this by briefly removing the memory card and the battery from the camera, then reinserting them. This seemed to re-set everything and it then all worked well!

Can I charge a Casio Exilim battery throug USB to my PC

No. The EX-Z60 does not charge the battery through the USB port. You need to use the supplied charger. Alternatively, if you have the EX-Z60DX cradle, you can plug the camera into the cradle and plug the cradle into a wall outlet. However, using the cradle will not let you charge the camera through the USB port either.

Alright so i wanted to know if i can charge my Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z700 Digital Camera without the actual charger but just plug it into my computer and it'll charger that way. i've tried this...

No. You need to plug the camera into the cradle and plug the cradle into a wall outlet. Connecting the camera to the computer merely drains the battery faster, as the camera has to spend juice communicating (or trying to communicate) with the computer, even if only to say it has nothing to say.

Casio Exilim works on cradle, wont turn on when off cradle

I would guess that the battery is not being charged. The problem could be poor connections between the charger & Camera or between camera and battery; or the battery no longer will take a charge.
First, clean the connections with the eraser end of a pencil. Clean the connections on the Charger and on the camer; clean the battery connections and in the camera, Charge overnight. If this does not get the camera working, borrow a battery and see if this works.

How to I download pics into hp laptop from Casio EX-Z600?

You don't need any software for the computer. Yes you can get a manual for this camera on the web, but here is how to do it anyway. Do you have the usb cradle that came with the camera? If not, you need to purchase one. If you do, plug the ac adapter to the dc in jack on the cradle, then plug the other end to an outlet. Plug in the usb cable to the cradle, then to the computer. You don't need install anything.  Click on my computer and you should see it listed as a removable drive. Double click on it, and double click on the dcim folder. The pictures should be there.

Downloading digital photos to my Vaio Computer

Visit this link for the manual. Click this link for Frequently Asked Questions?

You have two options for downloading pictures.
  1. Use a SD card reader, fast download.
  2. Use the camera and the USB Cradle (Page 180-187 of your owner's manual) There are many more steps than can be described here. The overview is:
    1. Plug power to the cradle
    2. Connect the cradle to the computer using the USB cord
    3. Mount the camera in the cradle
    4. View and copy the images from the camera using your favorite software. Perhaps Picasa2 from Google.
The battery model is NP-20 and the charger for this is "the special BC-10L Battery Charger" and can be purchased here, or the casio model from here.
