Turning Wi-Fi on and connecting to a wireless network
From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless & networks.
Select the Wi-Fi check box to turn Wi-Fi on. The phone then scans for available wireless
networks.

Tap Wi-Fi settings. The network names and security settings of detected Wi-Fi networks
are displayed in the Wi-Fi networks section.
If the wireless network you want to connect to is not in the list of detected networks,
scroll down the screen, and then tap Add Wi-Fi network. Enter the wireless network
settings, and then tap Save.

Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
If you selected an open network, you will be automatically connected to the network.
If you selected a network that is secured with WEP, enter the key and then tap
Connect.

Depending on the network type and its security settings, you may also need to enter more information
or choose a security certificate.
When your phone is connected to a wireless network, the Wi-Fi icon appears in the
status bar and tells you the approximate signal strength (number of bands that light up).
The next time your phone connects to a previously accessed secured wireless network, you
will not be prompted to enter the key or other security information again, unless you reset
your phone to its factory default settings.

The secured connections require a code that is set up during the configuration of the wireless network router. One type of secure connection uses the WEP code. (wired equivalent privacy) . If your device is asking for a wep code then the router has been set up to ask for this code. You will need to find out what the code is. If you are not the owner of the router then you need to ask the owner. If you are the owner and have forgotten the password then you could factory reset the router and use the default setting. But this is risky as anyone can connect to the network around your place.

To connect to wi-fi first you need to be in the wi-fi enabled zone (home, office or others). Turn on the wi-fi from your device and then enter the wi-fi security code (ask the concerend person for the code!

To connect to a WLAN via Wi-Fi™:

1. From the Home screen, find and tap Settings.
2. Tap Wireless controls > Wi-Fi settings.
3. Mark the Wi-Fi checkbox. Available Wi-Fi™ networks are displayed in a list under Wi-Fi networks. The available networks may be open or secured. This is indicated by the icon next to the network name.
4. Tap a Wi-Fi™ network to connect to it. If you are trying to connect to a secured Wi-Fi™ network, you are asked to enter the security key for that Wi-Fi™ network before you can connect to it. The Wi-Fi™ connection is displayed in the status bar once you are connected.

Useful tip:

• The next time you connect to a Wi-Fi™ network, the phone will remember the security key.
• To enable Wi-Fi™ network notification of open networks, mark the Network notification checkbox.
• To connect to another Wi-Fi™ network, just tap another Wi-Fi™ network in the Wi-Fi networks list.
• To scan for Wi-Fi™ networks manually, press the Menu key and tap Scan. The phone scans for Wi-Fi™ networks and displays them in the Wi-Fi networks section.
