Hi....I haven't hooked mine to the TV yet.....building my cabinet now....but I did hook up the components to make sure they worked and just didnt include a TV on it. My S-Air wireless linked up the first time I tried it....I will say this though, the little wireless transceivers blocks you have to plug into the DVD player and the S-Air do not go in like you would think. They actually look like they are upside down when you get them in, and the must snap in very securely. Make sure they dont just LOOK like they are plugged in. Also, dont get em to far away through too many walls, Try linking it sitting right close to the DVD. Also remember the S-Air remote has its own volume control as well as other controls....

I know I wasnt much help but I just got mine and I will be back with more after I try the surround sound on the TV.

My DAVHDX576WF surround system is connected to my TV by HDMI, but I hear no sound. The home theater test/setup is audible, radio is audible, but nothing from the TV

Which direction do you expect audio to be flowing: from or to the TV? The HDMI is an outbound connection for video. Page 71 describes how to enable the DVD AUDIO ONLY if you really want TV speakers to be competing with the DAV.

Can you use this system with a laptop for stereo surround sound (TV is the monitor)? If so, what cords would best suit the sound?

Your only choice is most likely a 3.5mm minijack cable. Take the laptop to a Radishack and make sure that cable will fit. The Sony should have an input for that cable even if it is the headphone jack. If your laptop has other audio outputs like an RCA or hdmi, which is unlikely, you would connect one of those cables between it and the Sony (Sony's input).

Sony Home Theater System DAV-HDX277WC - I get sound and video when playing a DVD, but no voices. Tried many different movies. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Verify that all speakers work for test tones first. The center carries most of the dialog. It's in the manual, as is your symptom (page 101).

Can the sony bravia home theater system be surround for both dvd and tv?

Strickly speaking about the audio:

The unit has digital audio in on 1 each coaxial and digital connectors.

Most DVD players have digital audio out in either a coaxial (RCA-looking) cable or optical cable.

Consider this: your TV is not a Source of audio (or even video, if you think about it). You probably get your programming from a cable or satellite box, Its audio should be available digitally.

If your DVD and cable use DIFFERENT types of digital audio sources, you're in luck. Attach each one to its compatible input on the Bravia. If you only have two optical outputs you can only attach one at a time.

If you have only two COAXIAL digital audio sources you CAN combine them into a single digital input on the Bravia by getting an RCA-splitter cable to connect them both to the one connector. It will only work if you leave one source dormant or off at any time you're monitoring the other source, otherwise you'll have two digital 'converstions' going on with the Bravia at the same time and it won't be pretty.

I want to connect my laptop with HDX277WC sony home theater. I want to get the 5.1 sound. I can get stereo sound; but 5.1 is not there. My laptop has 5.1 sound

Your laptop only has an stereo output so it is not possible. I don't know if there is any gadget that you can connect to the usb, and get a surround output from a computer. You may wana check that out, and if there exist such a device it surely would have a software to go along with it.

System works great with dvd, radio, and ipod dock. But when listening to the tv through the system, the sound is very low even when the volume is at its max.

It sounds like either the input selected to the receiver is wrong, the wires are not hooked up correctly, or the wires are bad. What type of connection are you using-RCA jacks, DVi connector, etc?
