SOURCE: How to remove a chuck from a DeWalt hand drill

Open chuck all the way (like for a large drill bit). There should be a set screw at the bottom (where you would put a drill bit). Don't turn too hard - it may be a left handed screw (I don't remember if it is a lefty for sure but try gently each way then with a bit more force each way until it moves).

Good luck.

My problem is my 18volt cordless drill driver cant work in Jamaica where ive been trying to use it cause its 50hertz and not 60 here Rigid customer support said i could try and locate 50cycle charger...

I dont know that the small difference in hertz would make a huge difference. What is the voltage 120 or 240? that would be my concern. And the company AEG is actually a german company that manufactures tools. They also make tools for many other tool companies e.g. Milwaukee Tool. I just searched and by entering the words aeg.com I came up with their website, you can browse the site or send them an email for advice. Let me know if you need more assistance and if I have helped you would you please vote accordingly.

How can I test whether the charger or battery id faulty. I live in Windhoek,Namibia

You have to check You have to check the battery and charger for voltage with a volt meter. The charger should be putting out at least 14.5 volts and the battery should read 14 volts. There are metal contacks on the battery and on the charger inside the hole where you insert the battery.

There is a yellow light flashing and battery not charging. I bought a second hand battery charger and it doesn't seem to be working either as there are no lights lighting up. Is there any way of testing...

the charger has three out points the one on the left at the side combined with the point at the back should be putting out 14 volts if not the charger is dead as for the battery the pack needs to be pulled apart and a test done on them that needs a tech with the proper equipment

hope this helps please remember to rate me

My new Black Max 24v drill charger will not charge the battery

You indicate that the drill is new. I'd suggest you return it for a replacement. Seems to be a defective or wrong charger. If you have problems and If you paid by credit card call the card company and have them stop payment on that charge.

Charger= 120V Wall socket= 125V

Don't worry about the 5 volt difference. All supply voltages are nominal (that is, they will fluctuate around the stated value). Your charger should have no problem with 125 volts (just don't try to use it in a country where the voltage is 230).

I have a mikita 12 volt and when I charge it it wont hold charge.

do you have a volt meter toi check the charger voltage? if so then read the voltage out of the charger, it should be 1 or 2 volts higher than the listing 12v would be 13 or 14 volts. if it's working you probally do have a bad battery. if the charger is out then you have a bad charger.

My AEG BL9618 battery charger has started to chirp(beep) is this a fault signal as the user manual is pretty thin on troubleshooting

Does the battery still charge?? The reason I ask is that some tool mfr's are starting to play with the chargers. Insert the battery and remove within 5 seconds and reinsert and then does the noise go aaway or change? Makita has started doing this and also some others. If the battery charges I wouldn't worry too much but try the above method and see.
