Seems that your inlet valves are leaking when the unit is off. Replace inlet valve and that should stop the issue.

SOURCE: washer won't fill

On the drain valve there must be some dirt that does not let the valve close or the valve must be defective and needs to be replaced. By the way you did not mention the make of the washer.

SOURCE: water keeps filling in washer

Sounds like you need a new water valve (some debris inside the valve causing it to not fully close). These are availible from your local appliance parts store or on line from the manufacture. Once you have your replacement, just take the #20 torx screws out of the rear of the top panel slide the whole panel slightly towards the rear and lift it off. On the outside of the washer on the back panel, You should a light blue plastic thing that the 2 matching hoses from your house connect to. Turn your water off and remove these hoses. Just beside them you will find another #20 torx bit screw (some models use a #10 or #15). Remove this screw as well. Now from the inside of the machine, you will see 4 blue wires going into 2 connectors on the valve. Remove these connectors only by pulling on the connectors, not the wires. Lastly you will see a small black hose with a green or silver clamp on it. Squeeze the clamp with a pair of pliers and then slide it down the hose. The hose should now pull free of your old valve.

SOURCE: Washer keeps draining

Sounds like you may have a siphoning problem. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

Double check your installation and drain hose placement. You need to ensure you have an air gap to break the suction caused by the drain line. In the event that this is not a simple siphoning issue, please let me know if you require additional assistance. I hope this helps you.

Washer fills with water, when motor engages to agitate clicks hard and does nothing and i can smell the motor heating up.

You will need to tear down the washer and pump, the drum out to check for obstructions and other problems that are keeping the drum from rotating.

Washer keep running water

if the washer power is off or if the unit is off and water still flows inside the drum then you have an inlet valve problem its where the water comes in there is a solinoid that opens and closes most of the time if you have hard water that can cause that solinoid to stick open..just replace the inlet valve that should solve the issue

Maytag atlantas top loader water keeps dripping from top of drum

Your water inlet valve is probably leaking by. If the water pressure is too, or if there is sediment build inside the valve, sometimes the solenoids will not close properly. Try cleaning the valve to see if this helps. If not, I would recommend replacing it. Depending on which valve you have, repairclinic.com has two listed for this model washer for $20 to $30. Let me know if this helps, or if you need further assistance.

Water in drum

It sounds like you have a faulty fill valve that is leaking by. The valve has an electric solenoid but also has a small diaphragm that needs to seat properly to keep the water supply from coming in. If the diaphragm is not seating correctly for whatever reason, water pressure alone can keep water filling into the wash tub. Even the smallest amount, over time can cause problems. One way to test the theory is to shut off the water supply before you go to bed. If the tub is still empty in the morning, more than likely you have a bad fill valve. Let me know if this helps.

is it overfilling? if so you have a problem with the pressure side of the system and it would need cleaning out.
