My Sony DVP-NS50P DVD player doesn't prduce sound. Swapped cables, and attached Hitachi DVD players with same cables and it plays with sound. How can I fix this inexpensively?
Thanks

If you are using the s-video jack to connect the DVD to the TV, the jack could be loose or the wire could be bad. The s-video cable has 2 signals, the black-and-white (luminance) and the color (chroma). If the chroma signal is not getting through, the picture will be in black and white.

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.
