Power surge issue

After the Eureka 4467 runs for a few minutes a power surge occurs. The vacuum motor slows down and any lights in the house are dimmed. Is there a fuse or something that I can change? The suction seems okay, and nothing is clogged. Thanks for any info

Wow, thanks for the quick response! What is a "shorted turn in the motor windings", or how do I remedy this? Replace the motor? Replace a part in the motor?

    Thanks for your help

This is a fault in the motor, could be a shorted turn in the motor windings. This has nothing to do with fuses.

If I am correct then a motor replacement or rewind would be required.
The first course of action would be to take the vacuum cleaner to a domestic appliance engineer.
    Good luck!

I change all the filter and check for clog.no clog and I have the same problem with eureka 4870 smart vacuum when the motor get hot it shut off until cool down.

It's likely reset has gone bad, The thermal reset is built into the motor. If the reset is bad the only way to fix it is to replace the motor.

Power will not turn on

Lisa,

I would first be certain to check the list in order to save your money.

  1. Use another electrical device in same outlet as vacuum.
  2. Unplug & check any damaged to vacuum power cord.
  3. Check for tripped motor protection fault. (very small reset button)
  4. Smell of burning from motor vacuum area.
plugged hose causing motor over heat issues.
Let us know if any of above resolves the issue.
Best of luck to ya!

Eureka powerline umc-18 vacuum quit working

The Motor has locked up due to over heating. Once that happens the only way to go is either replace the motor drive or get a new cleaner. Do not try and keep energizing the Vacuum as you could blow circuit-breakers or start an electrical fire.

Will not turn on

Leave it unplugged for a half hour then try it. But it sounds like it may have received a power surge or several. This could have fried the motor. The motor may have to be replaced.

Eureka altima stopped power mid vaccuming, have changed outlits

make sure all your filters are clean, try to turn the brush roller by hand a few times if it turns real freely then the belt is broke.if it is reall hard to turn then you have something wrapped around the ends of the roller where the bearings are.your motor guard might be keeping it from running because it got too hot take the brush roller out and the belt let it cool down for 20 minutes then try it without the roller and belt.you should be able to take the ends of the roller off by just pulling out on them so you can remove what ever is in there
