CD Rom Driver door won't open without using the straightened out paper clip or pressing the driver door button upwards of 15, 20 or maybe 25 times. It will eventually open after repeatedly pressing for that long, but that is totally unnecesary. It should be just one time to press and it slides open. My OS is Windows 98. Any suggestions? Tonya

If this happens with all your CDs and everytime, I would suggest you should replace your CD Rom Drive with a new one. After use of some years CD Rom Drives have such problems. Otherwise a software might locking your drive. you should find a tool which unlocks the drive and then press the eject button.

Cd tray won’t open

In the good old days, a CD drive would always have a small hole in the front. To open the tray, you would straighten a paper clip and press a button about 1/2" inside the hole. This releases the latch and starts the tray coming out where you can grab it.

This video shows you how:

Eject CD FROM EMACHINES

The CD drive has a pinhole on the door/drawer. It should be located close to the button you press to open the drive. Straighten a paper clip and insert it in the pinhole, pressing gently. The drive should open, releasing the CD.

CD DOOR WON'T OPEN

Just below the CD/DVD tray there is a tiny hole. Insert a straighten paper clip in this hole and gently push the paper clip until the CD/DVD tray pops out. You can now pull the tray out until it is in the fully opened position to remove the disc.
Try pushing the eject button to see if the tray closes, then push the eject button to see if the tray opens.
If this foes not work then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and it needs to be replaced.

I tried opening the CD Rom door on computer and it only makes a clicking sound and the door remains closed.

It might be a broken gear in the CD Rom. get a paper clip, straighten it out. there is a small paper clip sized hole just below the CDRom tray. It sits all by itself. straighten out a least an inch of paper clip and push it in the hole very quickly. This will unlock the CDRom and push it out just a bit. once unlocked you can pull it out all the way. try using it then. It may correct whatever is stopping it.

Hp xw8400 drive door wont open after it reads a

Straighten a paper clip and push it inside the small hole just above the open/close button while you press the button. You'll need to apply some force. This is usually caused when the gear inside the cd/dvd rom is not working properly or damaged. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

Need to remove a CD from DVD drive when computer won't reboot

In a laptop drive, there is a small hole in the door near the "open" button. Gently push a straightened-out paper clip into the hole and the drive will open.

In full-size drives used in desktops, the hole is usually under the tray. Again, push a straightened-out paper clip into the hole to open the tray. Once the tray slides out you can open it the rest of the way by hand.

My cd compartment won't open.

You can manually open the door using a straightened paper clip inserted into a small hole in the door. Press firmly and the door will be released. You may have a CD stuck in there, or you may need to reinstall the driver for the CD. Or the CD drive may have failed...at least the control part that opens and closes the door.

The cd-rom door not open

Sir,
You have encountered a problem often seeen in LG models. It could have spontaneously generated or as a sideeffect of recent servicing. It is difficult to correct. so an alternative way is use a pin to force open the door.
On the front panel there will be a small mm hole through which insert a straightened paper slip to force eject the door. once door is out a little. pull it or use button to fully take out the tray.

For future, always keep a cd rom inside. that will probably let you eject the tray automatically. Problem occurs usually only withthe empty tray. good luck
