Can't get webcam to work with AIM, why?

I have the Logitech Communicate Styx and when I'm invited in via IM for video chat, they can see me, but, my screen is all black and I can't see them. Yet, it works fine with another person that also has a cam, we can see each other. And I've tried it with someone that does not have a cam and they cannot see me, the screen is all black...what can I do? Our's is a logitech quickcam chat that shows that it is compatible with AIM. We are connecting with our son's computer which is a Mac and ours is a PC. We have windows XP. He has the camera built in to his computer. When inviting to connect to him we can hear and see him with no problem. He cannot hear or see us. We know our camera works because we can see ourselves when we are operating our AIM. When we check our computer for audio it says it is in proper use. We don't think it is a Mac/PC issue because our son uses AIM with his BIL who has a PC. We have also check to see if it is a firewall issue and we can't see a problem with that either. Help! Have the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000...communicating with someone with a dell laptop with built in webcam...I can see and hear them.
