SOURCE: Replacing Heater Element in Roper Dryer

before you replace the heater most common cause of heating failure is burn out of the thermal cut-out. (also called thermal fuse, overtemp cutout and probably half a dozen other names) These are a small screw on device on the exhaust duct, when exhaust air reaches too high a temperature, like a blockage, they fail before a fire.
examin the exhaust duct inside the dryer for devices that look like this 641e982.jpg or like this dd7fd44.jpg with wires connected to the terminals. there may be 2(hi lo), test with a ohmmeter -conductivity good, no conductivity replace.
there are only a few different kinds the local parts guy will have them all. take the dud one for him to match.

SOURCE: no heat

There is a cheap way you can fix this which I have been doing you years!! Yes i said years... First of all the heater elements are expensive so what i did is opened up the back and found the heater element and un screwed it. you see a bunch of springs and you will see that there is a break in the spring. all you need to di is overlap the spring and replace back in. Now replace the back shield and connect back the hose. and plug in. Now each time i do this it last for about a month as long as you don't over fill the dryer. NOW THE DANGEROUS PART! I have had to do this so many times that i no longer put the shield back on so i can easily get back to the element and patch it which does leave me open to lint getting into the coils and burning up..... This has never happened be aware of this. THE BEST THING I EVER DID FOR THIS DRYER IS TAKE A BLOWER AND BLOW FAST AIR INTO THE HOLE IN THE WALL AND THIS HELPED SO MUCH!! THERE WAS A LINT STORM IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD BUT THIS HELPED A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*** UNPLUG THE DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING *** PLEASE

remember it would be bad business to make the element last forever but you can extend the life for years doing this!!

Dryer heating element are they interchangeable

The elements are usually not interchangeable. You can use a website like appliance parts pro to look up both units by model number to see what the elements look like. They usually have diffferent mounting hardware or the enclosure might be different, some mount to the back wall and others mount underneath the drum.

Roper dryer takes 2 cycles to dry clothes. How do I look at the heating element? OR since it is still heating, just not quickly enough, could it be something else? OR does it have 2 heating elements?

First of all, unplug the unit before working on it. Be careful inside a fuse box, dangerous voltages. It's usually safe to change fuses or flip a breaker so long as your not in a wet location. Most dryers run the heating element on 220 volts, meaning you can either have one larger breaker or you could have 2 smaller breakers or fuses. If that is the case, possibly one of these breaker "legs" has tripped. Check that first. I would sooner think one of the heating elements are open or "not heating". I would look up the Roper Model number and search for the heating elements section. Some do have a thermal fuse but I think that would cause both elements to quit. Roper dryer not heating

Could be a number of things. A fuse kit, an element, a burned wire, faulty home electrical outlet or breaker, bad motor (rare). I would check for continuity on the fuses and element first.

MY ROPER DRYER QUIT HEATING STILLS WORKS NO HEAT

The thermal cut-off , which is the small t-stat looking piece located at the top of the element housing ( on vertical mount elements ) or the far front of the element housing ( on horizontal mount elements ) , is usually the cause for no heat .

How do I replace a heating element in a Roper clothes dryer? I get no resistance across the element with my ohm meter so I assume the element has been broken or burned in two. I can not find a way to...

I am not really familiar with your particular model number but most roper dryers have the heating element in a thin metal housing that is rectangular. The housing is part of the heating element and comes with the new one. Usually you just take the screws out of the outside of the housing and it comes right out. I hope this helps.
