If you have spilled solder in this way you can use some solder wick to soak up the errant solder, solder wick, is a braided copper string designed to collect melted solder, simply apply the solder wick to the aggregated solder and melt, the wick will soak up the solder, you can then cut off the saturated section of wick and continue to soak up the spilled solder, then just refresh any solder points you have removed the solder from.

not sure.. I have done this myself but only with identical drives,
if the card is not compatible though there is nothing stopping you from taking a pin from the IDE connector and replacing the one that broke. (desolder first and remove with needle nose pliers)
