Ice dispenser doesn't work
- Dispenser control board
If the ice dispenser is not functioning at all the most likely cause is going to be the dispenser control board. The dispenser control board governs the major portion of the systematic functions of the dispenser and is less likely to be the issue if only certain components are malfunctioning. If the dispenser control board is at fault, it will need to be replaced.
- Water inlet valve & low water pressure from house supply
If the ice dispenser on your refrigerator is not working properly, one of the first things to consider as an issue is the water pressure to your appliance. The ice dispenser cannot properly function with a psi less than 20. If psi is appropriate, proceed to replace the water inlet valve to correct the issue. You may also be dealing with low household water pressure. This low flow can be examined by using a water pressure test gauge. Once the household water pressure is resolved, you can double check your refrigerator connection to ensure it is now flowing properly and that the ice dispenser is functioning.
- Water tube in door is frozen

Although this may be a tricky problem to locate, the first thing to do is find a connection point in the tube. After this has been found, attempt to blow air through the tube. As it thaws, attempt to ascertain why it froze and correct the positioning of the tubing to prevent the issue from occurring again in the future.

If your water dispenser's flow is running slow check to ensure that your water filter is not clogged. If after checking you determine that the filter is clogged, simply replace the filter. Filters should be replaced every six months to ensure clean drinking water.

Appliance Repair Help Troubleshooting and Appliance Parts
Have already checked all of the solutions mentioned. Need to know how to get water to travel vertically from bottom of door to dispenser. Bought the unit June, 2004, GE side by side refrigerator, problem started last year.
Can I talk to someone by phone?
We have checked water flow at coil behind crisper drawer. There is strong stream here. Have disconnected water line at bottom front of freezer door at disconnect fitting, and there is strong stream of water here, too. I feel problem lies in water line that runs from disconnect fitting (which is ok), vertically into dispenser. Is there a small pump at dispenser to assist vertical water run, that may not be functioning??
Hooray! After using all your suggestions, we started from the beginning again. One of the first things we had done, originally,was to replace the water supply valve. So in rechecking the incoming water supply, we found a huge amount of water in the back area behind the refrigerator. It seems the new valve was leaking all this time, and water was accummulating under the refrigeratort til it started to wet the front area carpet and we realized it wasn't from testing the tube connection! After mopping up the water, we took the part back to where we had purchased it, and they replaced it. My husband put the new part in and lo and behold after a minute or two, WE HAD WATER!!! I couldn't have a nicer Mother's Day present. Thank you so very much. P.S. As an after thought, if we did have to do anything about insulating the area, would you have any thoughts?
