Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

Kenmore series 70 washer will only fill with water.

I recently had this problem. It was found that the main drive belt broke and the washer would fill but not spin, agitate or drain. I replaced the belt and everything worked again. A defective or disconnected cover switch would also cause the same problem.

Kenmore 70 series dryer cuts off after 10 minutes

You first shoul check the belt to see if it is not broke or twisted. If not then your motor is heating up and thios causes it to stop. a new motor would be your problem.

Kenmore 70 series dryer

Shows how it goes. The lower right graphic has the Kenmore 70. There are slots in the bottom of the dryer to lock it in.

If you spin the drum by hand, only spin it counter-clockwise the same way the motor spins it. Mine kept coming off and found it was due to spinning it by hand clockwise. For some reason the belt slips to the side of the tensioner then off the lip... when spun clockwise.
