My polaroid iS2132 won't change settings when I turn the mode dial/Can't set the intelligent scene mode.
You're supposed to be able to set the scene mode to "sunset", "portrait" etc etc. It's supposed to have 27 different settings! However, when I turn the mode dial on the top of the camera, it doesn't change the icon in the very top left of the display screen like the manual says it's supposed to. When you have it turned to the intelligent scene mode, you're supposed to be able to press the menu button and you can change the scene mode. But when I press the menu button, it only has the basic menu options, not the scene mode it shows in the manual.
When I'm turning the dial, I can see the quality on the display screen change slightly, so I know it's doing something.
I had a Kodak years ago with the scene mode features, and loved it. I took great photos with it. It bit the dust, and I've been using cheap cameras before this one, so I REALLY want to use this feature. I've contacted Polaroid twice through email and have not yet received a reply.

When you put the Mode dail to the SCN mode, It will enter the last used Scene mode. THEN press the MENU button to select other scene mode. Don't turn any dail. Use the navigation controls left and right from the OK button, to move through the section. Press OK button to save and activate the selected scene mode. Success
A light rap with a knuckle when powering up fixed the problem, at least temporarily. Lens extended, camera works fine. Not exactly a technical fix, but it worked for me.
The grainy effect has to do do with the ISO setting, try adjusting that. A higher ISO is generally better for darker conditions. I have noticed that this camera frequently takes grainy images.

The NIGHT SCENE and NIGHT+PORTRAIT scenes are meant to take time exposures of skylines and city streets by leaving the shutter open for several seconds. Therefore, it is necessary to stabilize the camera by bracing it against something solid or - ideally - by using a tripod or camera clamp.
so play around with the shutter speed and bring it to above 100
The procedure is as follows:
Set the camera's Mode Dial to the M (Manual) shooting mode.
Using the Control Dial(big wheel), set the shutter speed to 100.
Holding +/- button and turning the control dail will change focal length.
Play around a bit with this too utill you find right lighting for the image you need.
Remember slower shutter speed needs long time to process the image
there are advanced color correction modes,
Blue or dark pictures/videos
Keep your shooting distance inside of 2ft to 3ft, depending on
visibility and ambient light.
If you are using only one light, considering adding another light
(dual lights) or/and external flash accessory. The ideal
set-up is a combination of a light plus flash.
Consider purchasing the SeaLife Wide Angle Lens (SL975). The
fisheye lens allows you to get closer to the subject and fit more
into to picture frame.
For SeaLife camera with external light accessory (No external flash):
1) Set the camera's scene mode to Sea mode or Snorkel mode
2) Change camera's PHOTO and VIDEO White Balance
settings to DAYLIGHT.
For SeaLife camera with external light and flash accessories:
1) Set the scene mode to Ext. Flash mode
2) Change the VIDEO White Balance setting to DAYLIGHT.
For other underwater camera brands:
1) Set the Scene mode to "Auto" or "Underwater" scene
mode, as recommended by the camera manufacturer.
2) You may also need to change the White Balance setting to
DAYLIGHT depending on the camera's underwater color
correction or if pictures/video turns out red.
I know this was from about a year ago, and I really don't have a solution, but did you ever get it figured out? I think I might be having the same problem... And Polaroid has not answered my emails.
Turn the mode dial to "SCN", press the FUNC/SET button, use cursor-up/down to select the top icon along the left, then use cursor-left/right to select the desired mode.
If you are getting bad results from the SRAuto mode, select the SP mode. Then press MENU/OK Use the Up/Down selector to highlight Scene Position. Select the Sport Scene Position (icon of person running). Then press MENU/OK to select. This will remain the default setting each time you use the SP mode until you change it again.
Press the MENU button to bring up the Record mode Menu. You can use this shortcut menu to quickly change image resolution, reset all settings to factor defaults, enter Panorama mode, enable Picture+Sounds, enable Silent mode, change the scene mode (when set to the SCN position on the mode dial) as well as enter the Setup menu.
Turn the camera on and set the slide on the right hand side to the red camera icon, as if you are taking photos. Turn the dial on top of the camera to the red camera icon. Press the middle circle button (menu/set), you will see that the 'picture size' menu is highlighted. Press the right arrow key to view the different resolutions available, select with the up, down and menu/set button. Press the menu/set button again to leave menu. To change resolution in intelligent auto mode, do the same thing but turn the dial to the red camera with the 'iA' in it.
The symptoms you're describing could be caused by either the "Fireworks" special scene selection mode, or manual mode with too much exposure compensation. Look at your mode selector (back of the camera, upper left hand corner). Is the mode set to the still image setting (pointing at the liittle red camera)? Or is it set to special scene selection (SCN)?
If you are unintentionally in SCN mode, to get it out of "Fireworks", just turn the mode selector dial to select "still image" (pointing at the little red camera). Or you can also select an SCN mode more appropriate for outdoors. Just turn the dial to SCN, press the FUNC button, then press the left/right arrow buttons to select Portrait, Beach, Snow etc...
But if your mode selector is already in still image selection, then check to make sure that you're not in "Manual" picture mode. Turn the mode selector dial to "still picture mode" (pointing at the little red camera), then press the "FUNC" button. Now look at the bottom of the screen. If it says "Manual", press the "left" button controller once to select and put the camera in "Auto" still picture mode.
The shooting modes are described as follows:
AUTO (Factory default setting)
Auto mode is used for regular photography. The camera automatically makes the settings for natural color balance. Other functions, such as the flash mode and metering, can be adjusted manually.
Portrait
Portrait mode is suitable for taking a portrait-style picture of a person. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
Night scene
Night scene mode is suitable for shooting pictures in the evening or at night. The camera sets a slower shutter speed than is used in normal shooting. If you take a picture of a street at night in any other mode, the lack of brightness will result in a dark picture with only dots of light showing. In this mode, the true appearance of the street is captured. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. If you use the flash, you can take pictures of both your subject and the night background.

Scene mode enables you to select one of the following scene shooting modes available in the menu.
Landscape + Scene shooting
Landscape + Scene shooting is suitable for taking pictures of landscapes and other outdoor scenes. This mode produces clear, sharp pictures with excellent detail, making it ideal for shooting natural scenery.
Landscape + Portrait shooting
Landscape + Portrait shooting is suitable for taking photos of both your subject and the background. The picture is taken with the background as well as the subject in the foreground in focus. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting settings
QuickTime Movie
Quicktime Movie mode lets you record movies. The focus and zoom are locked. If the distance to the subject changes, the focus may be compromised.
Landscape
Landscape mode is suitable for taking pictures of landscapes and other outdoor scenes. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
Self-portrait
Self-portrait mode enables you to take a picture of yourself while holding the camera. Point the lens towards yourself, and the focus will be locked on you. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. The zoom is fixed in the wide position and cannot be changed.
