I have a B&S 15,000 Watt Home Gen. We have been out of power and the generator has been running for about 60 hours then it shut off (suspect overload demand). The generator blinking light fault indicated 5 blinks(frequency) and also 4 blinks (wont restart). I switched off the off/automatic toggle switch on the generator and it does restart, then shut off after 20 seconds...it repeats this about 5 times before faulting. During the restarting for 20 seconds the light come on so the transfer switch appears to work. How do I reset this to run continuously?
The toggle switch automatically resets all faults when it is turned to the off position. I would turn the toggle switch off, turn off the breaker on the generator and then turn off all the loads in the house except a few lights. Turn the generator breaker back on, then turn the toggle switch back to automatic. If it starts and stays running, you were overloading the generator. Turn on other loads slowly and keep track of what is on so you don't overload it again. If it still does not stay on, you may have a problem with the panel. Let me know what happens.
Testimonial: "Thanks OldFatGuy; I did exactly as you recommended; shut the toggle off, shut the breaker off and shut all breakers off inn my house...it took about 10 tried but it stayed running; then as I loaded it up. I noticed given certain combinations it shut off...like Hot H20 and furnace so I guess I will alternate. Any idea why it used to run everything and now it overloads? Is it on the engine side (like Gov.) or electrical. Anyway I can deal with this for now. I thank you, my family thanks you. Cam b"
As we know that diesel generator runs abnormally because of battery long time no maintenance or the deviation between components. Try to solve your problem through this article:

Hope it can help you.
SOURCE: Hello,
These units are equipped with a low/no oil shutdown. When you hold the switch over to start it, it overrides the shutdown interlock until the unit builds oil pressure in the engine. When you release the switch to the run position the interlock is engaged. Ensure there is sufficient oil in the crankcase, check the wiring from the oil pressure switch to the ignition cutout-(it may have been pulled off or damaged). If that checks out, then either jump across the 2 wires at the oil sending unit or disconnect the harness from the sending unit to test to see if the sending unit is bad. Try both unless you know the switch is normally open or normally closed. Replace the sending unit if needed.

sounds like problem with c board still a problem
SOURCE: frequency adjustment or solution
Can you check the RPM of the engine? 3600 RPM = 60 HZ. If it is running around that speed, try a different frequency meter.
If it was producing 180 HZ, it should automatically shut down and show a fault code!
