SOURCE: Dewalt drill binding

If you noticed this sound the first time you tried the drill, it is noise of the armature brake.  This noise is normal and not a problem at all.  Michael Mittelsdorf

SOURCE: my dewalt cordless drill stopped working in the middle of drilling a hole. is the trigger faulty/broken?

First before you open the tool ground yourself. The switch is probably static sensitive. Now open the tool and check for wires that may have come loose from the switch, or motor brush area. If no bad wires make sure the switch terminals are ok (not broken or bent and are tight enough to make contact with the batery terminals). Next check the brushes and make sure they move freely in the brush holders. You didn't state the model so it may not have brushes you can access. If all that is good disconnect the motor from the switch and secure the motor in a vise. Take wires with alligator clips and connect the battery directly to the motor for just a second to see if it runs. If the motor runs you have a bad switch assuming your battery is charged.

Makita HR3000c green light comes when trigger depressed but doesnt work

From the owner's manual: Indicator lamp The green power-ON indicator lamp lights up when the tool is switched ON. If the indicator lamp is lit but the tool does not start, the carbon brushes may be worn out, or the electric circuit or the motor may be defective. If the indicator lamp does not light up and the tool does not start, the ON/OFF switch or the mains cord may be defective.

The easiest to check is the brushes. Most newer tools have brushes with a spring loaded pin in them so when they wear down the pin pops and stops the motor so you don't wear the armature. Even without the pin the wire from the contact to the brush is short so the spring doesn't contact and ruin the armature. If the brushes are OK, you'll have to check the switch for continuity.

Drill keeps spinning when trigger is released use to stop when trigger was released

the break is out or the brushes are worn excessively. I would think the brake is out and for that you would need to replace the switch. MAKE a wiring diagram before removing the switch it is polarity sensitive. You can go to makitausa.com for a parts diagram and also order from there or they have a service locator also where you can find parts locally. Let me know if you need more assistance.

When i release the brake it quits

I don't think you are releasing the brake, you are setting it.The brake comes on when the saw kicks back and hits something like your wrist, It engages the brake so that it doesn't cut your arm off, Grab hold of that thing and give it a good yank backwards, It should reset it, and you will be all set. If this is not what is happening, Then I don't know what you have got there, I have never seen a saw with a brake or safety lever like what you are describing.

My break lamp, light on my dashboard doesn't turn off and my car and trunk light indicator says break on? but Its not on and I don't apply breaks

The brake light on your dash is for the e-brake. If its in the up position this will trigger the light while the car is on. If the light is on and the e-brake is down, then you probably need to change the pads.

My dewalt 18v cordless drill trigger is sticking in the on position. The model is a dc 988

In most cases triggers either work or they have to be replaced. There are no repairable parts in them and lubricating them usually results in more dust sticking to them and the plastic breaks down from the lube and the problems get worse. Try blowing any debris out of the trigger with compressed air while working the switch. If that doesn't work, the replacement trigger for your drill is part number 152274-22 and is fairly easy to replace. Shop around on the web for the part as they run $50 to $70 plus shipping.

Describe how to remove drill bit and install a

Most cordless drills use keyless chucks these days. Shift the drill into reverse and hold the main body of the chuck. Pull the trigger and the bit should come out. Put it into forward and run it to tighten onto a new bit.
