Pull the lamp out and with a flashlight look at back of the compartment. There should be a cutoff contact switch at the bottom where the lamp pushes it inward when connected. If you dont see this, it is possible you may have inadvertently pushed to hard when inserting the lamp and that switch has to be replaced. It is part of the projection engine/unit and unfortunately that will be expensive if that is the issue. Good Luck

SOURCE: Sony KDS-R50xBR1 Needs projection lamp replaced

I bought a True replacement from the PartsStore through Amazon.com and it cost me about $185, but it was a Phillips bulb and the full cartridge replacement. I went with the aftermarket bulb only replacement the first time, lasted less than a week and haven't resolved that issue yet.

SOURCE: Replacement lamp

does the TV still turn on? you should get between 3000-6000 hours of life out of your lamp. You can pull the lamp out and see if there is any discoloration in the center, if there is then it might be a good idea to do a little preventative maintenance and replace it.

You can by the lamp online from various outlets. They usually run around $150 to $200 and are pretty easy to install at the back of the television. Make sure the TV is unplugged and use a screwdriver to remove the outer cover and loosen the lamp housing. Disconnect the connector and install the new lamp. Re-install the screws. take special care not to touch the lamp because your skin oils can cause the lamp to fail. Make sure you go into the menu for the televison when your done and rest the lamp timer.

Here is a link to a web-site that sells lamps. Definently shop around prices can very greatly.

There was a pop and then my tv picture went black there is sound but no picture

Most likely the pop sound was the loss of your lamp module, due to normal burnout, causing immediate loss of video without affecting audio.
You'll want to do an internet search to price a new lamp for your projection TV.

Here's a YouTube video how-to describing lamp replacement for a Sony Wega Projection TV:

My 50 inch hitachi hd projection tv picture won't

This T.V. more than likely has a bad lamp. I don't know the model number so look up on ebay for a lamp replacement by model number after you inspect it and find it to look cloudy or exploded.

RCA M50WH72S Replaced bulb and ballast. TV comes on with good video for about 5 seconds, then off with good audio, front power light blinks 5 times. After a few minutes the video comes back on and repeats...

Check capacitors cp624, cp647 1000uf@35v each. They are in the power supply. Can be seen with bulge on the top. Seems to be a common problem with this model RCA.

Replacement lamp

Remove the front cover from the TV set. This is held by a snap on. Pull the front cover outwards until the quick snap on disengages.
Remove the screw securing the lamp cover with a Phillips head screw driver
Remove the two screws that hold the lamp in place. Remove the lamp unit by holding the lamp handle, then pulling outwards.
Exercise caution when removing the lamp unit to avoid injury to your fingers
Replace with the new lamp.
Place the removed lamp into the empty box of the replacement lamp. Do not touch the front glass of the new lamp or its
receptacle. This may shorten the life of the lamp and reduce the picture quality.
• Push the lamp unit back to its original position.
• Tighten the screws firmly on the lamp unit. If they are loose, the TV may not operate correctly. Install the front cover. There is also a video on youtube just do a search on how to install a projection lamp. Hope this is helpful
