SOURCE: No picture, hear sound, television will shut off after a few seconds.

Take out the bulb (back left hatch door) look to see if the element inside the bulb is broken or blackened - (replace bulb) if the bulb looks OK then it's the ballast that fires the bulb (service call).

SOURCE: My DLP TV made a loud popping sound then went off

first. unplug the set for 5 minutes and see if it will reboot. if it does not the you have 2 problems, the chassis is also bad. next open the lamp door cover, it is behind the speaker grill, and behind the lamp door.
take out the lamp and see if it has broken on the inside if it has it needs to be replaced. mits will send you one i believe it is about 100.00 the number is 915P020010. if the lamp looks ok then the color wheel has probably fallen apart.if this is the case the light engine need to be repaired. check out www.tv-techs.com

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WD-73732 TV

It could be a bad lamp but I've run into many of these TVs with bad color wheel assemblies. Also, if you are getting a dialog box coming up with these words," airflow blocked, TV will shutdown ..." that's a defective thermal fuse.

This is a job for a mitsubishi authorized service center. A tech can disassemble the light engine and confirm that the wheel is the problem. If you're still in warranty, great. If you're only recently out of warranty, call mitsubishi for assistance. Remember that persistance pays off when dealing with large corporations. You very seldom get what you're looking for on the first call or from the first person you speak to.

SOURCE: tv went out after loud pop and has clicking noise does not turn on

If you have a Sony DLP, then the loud pop you heard is your lamp.  The lamps last approx. 4K-6K viewing hours.  Read your manual for replacement part number to reorder and very simple to replace yourself.

SOURCE: HEARD LOUD POP NOISE DLP TV DOES NOT WORK

Following up on my Feb 7 post. My new lamp arrived, and I replaced it and it works great. The old lamp had many shards of glass come out of it. It was tore up. I saved some money buy purchasing just the lamp and not the cartridge. It's a little bit more work to take apart, but saves money. Mitsubishi wanted $289 for the lamp replacement kit. I got a lamp for $114. TV is working just fine now!

I get sound but no picture then the tv shuts off after 5min. It is a Mitsubishi wd-73837

Popping noises are not a good sign; I suspect the sound came from the catastrophic death of an electrolytic capacitor or worse, the death a a power semiconductor.
Open the lower cabinet and using a good light, look for a smaller, separate board with fairly large parts on it; some cylindrical in shape, others block-like that may have copper wire showing.
If, as common, this board is plugged with connectors into other parts of the system, you may be able to swap the failed board out for a replacement bought from a Mitsubishi service center.Expect to pay $100-$150 US if the set is no longer under warranty.
