Washer smells foul...this is often a build up of soap, water, too many chemicals and this has left a residue, and the mildew moves right in and it stinks. This builds up is often on the inside of the outer tank - picture help
Many times that this happens is when people use to much soap and then they only do laundry once a week.
One good solution to help your odor problem...it works well...in a top loader I recommend 2 cups of cascade and 2 cups of bleach, fill your machine with hot water and let it agitate. At the end of the agitation/wash cycle, let the machine sit and soak for about 10-15 minutes to work on your scum, then close the lid and let it complete. Next load run whites to be safe all bleach is out. This should help.
On some really bad odor problems, you may have to remove the inner basket to scrap off the build up from the inside of the outer tank. You may will need special tools to remove the inner basket.
Fabric softener is also nasty for building up inside and under the agitator
It is recommended to use half to a quarter of the detergent that the package  recommends.
Other things that may help, leave the washer lid open between laundry days. Never cover your washing machine with those plastic covers.

ODORS IN DUET HE3 & HE4 WASHERS CLEAN OUT PROCEDURE
NOTE: Make sure that you read these instructions completely before beginning the clean out process.
1. Open the washer door and remove any clothing or items from the washer.
2. Inspect the gray colored seal/bellow between the door opening and the basket for stained areas. Pull back the seal/bellow to inspect areas under the seal/bellow.
3. If stained areas are found, wipe down these areas of the bellows using the following procedure:
a) Mix a dilute solution of liquid chlorine bleach and water (3/4-cup bleach in
1 gallon of warm tap water).
b) Wipe the seal/bellow area with the dilute solution.
c) Let stand 5 minutes.
d) Wipe down area thoroughly with a dry cloth and let the washer interior air dry.
e) Please note:
- Do not use bleach at full strength for cleaning surfaces.
- The use of rubber gloves is recommended when cleaning for prolonged periods.
4. To begin the clean out cycle, do the following:
a) Open the washer door and remove any clothing or items from the washer.
b) Be sure door is closed.
c) Open the dispenser drawer and remove the detergent divider from the main wash detergent compartment. See the Use and Care Guide for instructions. No additives will be added at this time. You will be required to add them at a later step.
- For Whirlpool Duet, select the Power button.
- For Kenmore Elite HE products, move to the next step.
d) Select the Normal wash cycle.
e) Select the hottest wash water temperature available, (not all temperatures will be available).
f) Select the highest spin speed available.
g) Select the additional or 2nd Rinse option (if available).
h) Press and hold the Start key for 2 seconds. The door will lock and filling will begin. NOTE: The water will dispense for a moment, then the door will unlock and re-lock and the cycle will continue.
i) Once the filling has begun again, open the dispenser drawer and immediately add 1 cup liquid chlorine bleach to the main wash detergent compartment.
The liquid chlorine bleach should immediately flow through the dispenser.
NOTE: Do not add any detergent to this clean out cycle. Use of more than 1 cup of bleach per month will cause product damage over time. Addition of bleach without immediately starting the cycle will cause product damage over time.

Bleach doesn't solve mold or mildew issues - just kills the flowering part of the fungi..
Seriously, try Hydrogen peroxide instead. Use gloves. soak a rag, and start wiping. Clean that door gasket every week.
And leave the door open when not in use.
Have fun!

I get a very strong smell from my maytag atlantis washer. it smells like the sewer. how do i remove that smell?

Confirm that the sewer trap is working. The sewer trap for a washer is the pipe connection where the washer drain hose connects.

It would not be likely that the trap is a problem. Sewer gas and mold can smell similar. Smell around the hose connection. Some older homes just simply had a drain to the outside
26162560-vtficdakbbyhbpkipaftpy0h-4-0.png Next this machine is a top loader and if it is being used several times a week the problem is likely around the tub on top. Mold will form in the tub under the basket if it is not run weekly. Normal wash cycle in a top loader should keep under the basket clear. If a week or so occurs between use then the problem can be under the basket at the bottom of the tub. Use bleach, vinegar, or baking soda in moderation to clear.

It is more likely that the problem is around the top of the top. this requires opening the top and swinging it back to get access. Make sure power is removed before attempting.

Cleaning a little bleach, soap and water.

All cycles work but clothes come out wet, top loader model# AAV7000AWW is there a lint trap that needs cleaning?

Lint traps are in dryers, not washers If clothes still come out wet then perhaps the water pump is not working properly and/or the drum is not spinning fast enough to allow centrifugal force to remove water from clothes.

My whole house smells like rotten eggs when I run my washer. I have read it could be the lint trap. Where is the lint trap on the Frigidaire gallery front loader?

. Unplug the washer

2. Pull the washer out to tilt it back so you can

reach the screws below the front panel and

remove it. (You will need something to catch

the water once the hose is removed from

the bottom of washer)

3. Loosen the bolt with the sliver clamp on the

bottom of the washer. The water will begin to

come out while your loosening the clamp. (Do

not remove any GREEN clamps)

4. Once the water is out, you can stick your hand
inside the hose to clean it out

Is there a lint trap for this model? If so where?

There is no lint trap on these washers. The manufacturers are depending on the dryer to remove 80% of the lint. The only solution they give is when sorting the clothes separate the lint givers from the lint takers. Hope this helps

After every wash the lent stays on the clothes

here are a few suggestions Two things that come to mind...1) Your wash time is too long. Unlike front loaders, top loaders clean quickly. No need to use the longest wash setting unless the item is really dirty.
2) You are overloading the machine. Items should move freely and circulate from top-to-bottom several times during the wash.
3) try using more detergent, One of the things good detergent does is keep lint (and dirt) suspended in the water and off your clothes. 4)http://www.ehow.com/how_2083872_clean-washing-machine-lint-trap.html

Where is the lint trap on the front loader

There is no lint trap. There is a coin catcher on the pump. The design of the wash action on a front loader is such there is less lint than on standard machines. One of the bennies of the design.

Where is the filter?

Hi,
To find the filter you need to do the following steps. Find your lint trap. Lint traps in washing machines can be in the agitator (the large plastic piece in the center of the tub), at the top of the washer on the rim of the tub, or attached to the washing machine's drainage hose. Pull out the agitator tube to check for the lint trap. Peel any loose lint from the filter. Scrub away lint that doesn't peel off easily with a heavy-duty paper towel or a wet sponge. Feel your way around the top rim of the washing machine's basin. If you locate a trap, pull it straight out of the machine. Peel away loose lint and follow up with a wet sponge or heavy-duty paper towel. Check your machine's drainage hose for an attached lint trap. Remove the trap and peel the top layer of lint off. Rinse the trap in low-pressure, warm water. Reattach to the drainage hose. Check for and remove any lint or debris that may have dropped into the washing machine basin during the cleaning.

Why does my washing machine leave lint on my clothes? does this type of washer have a lint catcher?

Most washers don't have lint traps, the dryers are expected to. In your type of top loader some simple traps would be located in the top cap of the agitator. They should be cleaned each load, but they only stop the bigger pieces.
