The record function is non-volitile, meaning that if the piano is powered down, what is recorded is not lost. When recording is operational and active, an LED is on. If you h
ave pressed record and the LED has not come on, you appear to have a hardware problem that no reset fixes.
Before giving up and requesting assistance of Suzuki repair facilities, you might check all cables to see that they were in full contact before trying again. Make sure the volume is up.
