Okay I see your answer. I will research this tomorrow but my first instinct is that two volts is probably right. The pulses are low voltage and trigger the spark electronically using low voltage power which is then amplified. .

Power Generators makita g5501r parts questions and answers. ... I own a makita 6100generator and it is only putting out about 105 volts ac and about 208 volts .
volts on a gen set are controlled by the engine prms
adjust the screw on the governor arm to set at the correct out put volts
remember that unloaded set volts ( rpms ) will drop under load so set about 10 volts over out put voltage so that under load the correct volts will be supplied.
Sounds like the alternator has failed, possibly a short or open in the windings. Similar to problem I had with my 10 KW unit. I replaced the alternator.
CODE P1637 - GENERATOR L TERMINAL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION CONDITIONS. CODE P1638 - GENERATOR F TERMINAL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION CONDITIONS. POSSIBLE CAUSES FAULTY GENERATOR WHICH IS ALTERNATOR.CHECK GENERATOR POWER FEED WIRES AND CHECK GENERATOR VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES FOR LOOSENESS AND DAMAGE. MAKE SURE BATTERY VOLTS ARE 12.6 VOLTS. IF BATTERY WEAK DUE BAD GENERATOR VECHICLE WONT START.
Most low voltage conditions on generators are simply due to a low engine rpm. Most modern generators are 2- pole windings. So your engine rpm should theoretically run @ 3600 rpm. which will produce 120/240 volts @ 60 HZ. In actuality You want to set your rpm's @ Approx. 3720rpm no load. About 62.5 Hz. Without getting to technical this will give you your desired 120/240 volts loaded. Hope this helps.
charge the battery real good and start the bike rev it up to 3000-5000 rpms and see what kind of volts you have if its over 13 your good if not have the generator checked you might get lucky and only have to replace the rectifier in the generator
Hi, You don't say whether this is under load or not but if not is within the acceptable range, which is +/- 10% . Generally speaking, voltage on a generator is not the issue but the load which it will carry, hence their wattage ratings. Measure your household voltage and you will see that it varies from day to day but usually stays within the limits and your electrical panel is rated in amperage. Hope this answers your question!
