I am fixing up a T.V for a room and then come to find out the original remote was lost. So I went and bought a RCA Universal to program the T.V with. I think I have the codes lined up. I just need instructions to help satisfy the remote problem so that I can use the T.V fully instead of partially. Thank you for reading and please hit me back with a solution to this somewhat "difficult problem."
Code search. Hold down code search button until on-off light flashes then stays lit. keep pressing the on-off button until the power to your tv goes off, then hit the enter button. your remote should be set to your tv!

Do you have a "universal" remote or a "learning" one. What brand and model is the remote? The learning remote must have the original one to properly program the codes you need....accordianman

Go to any electronic store and buy a cheep remot universl and it comes with all kinds of information works for me

On my RCA remote I push on and hold the on/off button until the SAFE goes off. Maybe that will work with another remote. Hope this helps.

I could not find the Users Manual for the VR636HF, but I did stumble across the Users Manual for the VR634HF. Find it here:

Page 49 talks about the Pro-Tec Plus Locking "Feature" whereby holding the VCR button for six seconds will lock and unlock the "SAFE" mode.
Page 38 & 39 are instructions and programming codes for the VR634HF remote. Maybe they will work with your VR636HF to get the TV control working again.
