Holes in Shirts from LG Front Load Washer

We've checked the inside of the washer and there are no snag points. Are there any other possible solutions to this problem (other than putting the shirts in a mesh bag or pillow case)? Could it be the rollers. I have the same problem with tiny holes in all my shirts. All in the same spot too. I am using a slower spin speed and putting the shirts in a mesh bag. I am still having the same problem. I am also air drying the garments. I just don't get it.

I have the same problem. It's not zippers or bra hooks. You have to first check the rubber barrell in the machine. Sometimes little odds and ends get into there from pockets. Second, you have to pull open the tiny door on the front bottom and drain the stupid thing on a regular basis. Be prepared- a LOT of water comes out. And even if you use a bowl, the machine is designed well to hold the water that comes out. After that, you have pull the hose next to the drain out and unplug it. Even more water will come out. I usually find some nasty thing in there that is the culprit. I hate this machine. It has destroyed just about everything I own.

Own a lg wm1832cw front load washer doesnt seem to clean properly when wearing tee shirts for an hour smells like they never were washed paid alot of money for this thing seems cheaper top load machines...

Hi

The smell usually comes when the washer is unable to drain water completely, you can run your washer at its hottest temperature setting with 1 cup of vinegar inside the unit. After this take off the bottom front panel and clean it completely, also clean the drain hose and drain pump filter, the smell should disappear after doing all this. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I am finding tiny holes in the sleeves and fronts of random cotton shirts. i had an exterminator in and he could not find one bug in my entire house. is it possible it is washer or dryer related? it's...

Check for any small pieces of sharp metal in your washer tub on the front and back where the tub has a seam and is welded together. (you will need a flashlight and will have to put your head inside the washer to see this.) Check very carefully it could be very small. I have seen the stray metal welded into the tub and the tub would have to be replaced. Also check your dryer for anything sharp or holes in the front and back seals. Please rate this post.

Washer making holes in clothes

Feel the drum inside for any sharp object example a pin that is sticking sideways in a hole or the the drum spot-weld spots that came lose making a high spot.
I did find the same kind of a problem with a Defy front Loader machine. You can also check the gap between the door and the drum lip.
Hope this will solve your problem and save yourself from spending big bucks on new clothes.

Holes in Shirts from LG Front Load Washer

This may sound weird but try using a slower spin speed.  The reason is because the faster the spin speed is, the more the clothes can get sucked through the holes in the drum.  On the other side of the drum that you don't see could be some metal points that can snag the material.  When you pull the clothes out, you will pull the thread that comes entangled with those metal points.

GE Front load washer clothes coming out with holes/torn/even shredded

Metal inside washer drum may be faulty and causing tearing of clothes (run your finger around the inside when empty and you will feel where it snags). Had same problem, only got worse and ruined many expensive t-shirts! Replacement of drum is required and is extremely costly if not under warranty!

Fabric pulls on gentle cycle

Check the inside of the drum to see if there is any loose vanes.  Then check the holes in the drum itself to see if there is any protruding metal shavings that is causing the problem.  There should be no rough edges at all.  It sounds like the drum is the problem.

Holes in clothes

run a old hosiery or cotton wad (like from holloween) around the inside of the drum. see where it snags,
the drum is warranted for a very long time. (don't know exact)

GE top load Washer ripping clothes

Solution!
GE has replaced the "boot" (the large rubber gasket at the opening of the washer) on my washer. This has fixed the problem!

Although the majority of people I spoke with at GE did not know about this, eventually I got a repair technician out here who spoke with one of the engineers. The engineer said that there was a problem with the boot causing clothing to rip. The new boot we have on our washer covers a ring of plastic just on the outside of the metal drum (the plastic rim remains stationary while the metal drum spins - this is the cause of the ripped clothing) - the old boot left this plastic ring exposed. Our washer was only 8 months old - so even if your washer is new, if your clothing is being ripped, insist that the boot be replaced for an updated version.

Good luck!
