RCA rear projection hdtv - D61W20 - Turn tv on with remote. Sometimes sound comes on. Sound cuts out after a few seconds. Then cuts out again. Then tv and green led goes off. Sometimes sound is ok. Picture comes on. Picture cuts out. tv and green led go out. I tried to turn on tv several times after. Didn't get picture or sound. After 2 days tv came on. picture and tv were fine for about 10 days. Then the same problem occurred for about 3 days. Now the tv has been working fine for4 days. What could the problem be? Any sugestions how to fix it?

It's simple. Your TV does not like you. Perhaps you need to speak kindly to it before you force it to watch BBC for hours. Buy it a scone.

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.

It is the lamp cover. There is a switch behind it and the post on the cover will slip off the switch. If this switch is not depressed, the tv will go off. No lamp light flashing or anything
