Ice maker removal

The arm does not go all of the way down after dumping ice. I want to remove ice maker to fix the problem. I removed the bottom screw but the it is still attached at top and I don't want to force or break it off.

SOURCE: Ice maker removal

first of all remove the ice bucket. then you will see a wiring cover on teh left hand wall just below teh icemaket. there is a rectangular hole in this cover. using a small precision scredriver carefullly insert into this hole and push up or and down to release a hidden clip. the trick is to pull on the wiring cover while you try to maneuver the clip. first time you do it it can be very frustrating but keep working at it and you will get it.
alternately you could just leave the Icemaker in place and use a hairdryer to melt the jammed ie out of the way. good luck peyton

How to replace ice maker signal arm

  1. Safety First: Before you begin, unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet to ensure your safety.
  2. Locate the Ice Maker: The ice maker is typically located in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator. It's usually mounted to the side or top of the freezer.
  3. Access the Ice Maker:
    • In some refrigerator models, you may need to remove the freezer's interior shelves or baskets to access the ice maker.
    • Others may have a cover or panel that needs to be removed to access the ice maker assembly.
  4. Identify the Signal Arm: The signal arm is a slender, plastic or metal arm that is connected to the ice maker assembly. It extends over the ice bin or tray.
  5. Remove the Old Signal Arm:
    • If the signal arm is attached with a screw, use a screwdriver to remove it.
    • If the signal arm is connected with a clip or latch, gently detach it by carefully pulling it off the pivot point. Some signal arms may have a small locking tab that needs to be released first.

MAKING ICE BUT WILL NOT DUMP ICE CUSTOMER HAS REPLACED ICEMAKER TWICE

Super easy fix. Pull out the Ice Maker. Two screws at the top, one ground screw at the bottom. remove plug. Once Ice Maker is out remove the white cover. Again two screws. Check to see if there is ice blocking the control arm. That has been the problem on most of these. Remove Ice, reinstall and enjoy the ice.

Ice maker control arm has broken and ice machine keeps making ice. How do I stop the icemaker? And, then, how do I fix or replace the control arm (which appears to have snapped at the point that the arm...

Good day,
You will have to remove the ice maker. Usually 2 screws or clips on top and one screw on the bottom, as well as the plug that supplies the electrical power.
Since you'll need a new arm anyway, I would suggest you take the ice maker to any decent sized appliance parts house, and see if they'll pull the the old stub out and install a new control arm.
If that doesn't work, you'll need to replace the whole ice maker.
If you want to see if you can remove the stub yourself, unsnap the front cover. You'll see a semi-solid state type board. It is held in with 3 screws. Remove those, pull the board off, and inspect the area we are talking about. You might be able to get it out, but if not, go back to my first suggestion.

My icemaker just stopped making ice today....please help

Hi, first , pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If if freezes , and dumps , replace the water valve. If it does not dump the cubes , replace the ice maker. After pouring the water into the ice maker , remove the bottom kick panel , and clean the bottom coils , of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , as this will raise the freezer temp . An ice maker has to be 5 degrees , to operate , correctly . If ice maker starts working , after cleaning the coils , GREAT ! ( it does happen ) .

Take care

Ice Make will not Dump into Bucket

The arm that drives the ice out of the freezer tray is driven by a small motor in the front of the ice maker. The motor has a small gear that drives the larger gear keyed to the front of this arm. If the ice is ever allowed to thaw and re-freeze the driven gear can break one or more teeth off affecting the operation of the ice cube removal. None of the parts of the ice maker are available separately. However these parts are easily repaired with super glue or epoxy. When re-installing the drive arm it must be located with the drive fingers horizontal.

Ice maker not working

If you press and hold the button on the ice maker for seconds it will go into test mode and do a complete cycle. Try this and it should correct the problem. If you think the arm is frozen, you could use a hair dryer on it for a couple of minutes then do the test.

GE Monogram ZISS480DMCS Ice Maker Problem

Check and make sure that the float arm in the ice bin is down and able to swing. This arm should be down until the bin is full of ice which would raise the arm and stop any water flow until ice cubes are removed, and allows the arm to drop again to start the cycle all over again, to replace the ice that was used. The arm has a spot to snap in and be held where it would be in a position all the way raised, to allow the bin to come out for cleaning or all of the ice removal from the bin, such as to dump the ice in a cooler. The arm should be gently pulled down to hang freely and will slowly raise on its own as the bin fills with ice.
