It takes 27 minutes to fill. is that normal?
SOURCE: Kenmore 80 Series - water wont fill to full load
remove edge decore trims from left and right side front of control panel
remove phillips screws from bottom corners of contol panel
remove knob from water level selector
raise control panel ~1 inch then flip over backwords on pivots
depress lock tab on right/underside of water level control body where it touches metal mount plate
rotate water level control body 45deg anti clockwise
pull body off
top side of body next to knob shaft is 1/8 hex head bolt
turn clockwise to rais water level
anticlockwise to lower water level
machine can be operated with this part not fitted so can check level. fill, adjust screw, fill will start again, adjust screw, until water level is correct
reinstall in reverse order
Incidentally, the cause is a VERY small wire spring inside the control body that is not really up to the task, and stretches over years.
Its a common occurrence, and I make this repair, on callouts, no parts required, couple times a month
you may have to flip the switch to reset to get the water to restart filling
SOURCE: Kenmore 80 series won't spin
If it agitates and drains. leaving your clothes clean but soaking wet. It is most likely the transmission/gearbox. the motor is working otherwise it would not agitate. it is stuck in agitate mode and cannot "shift" into spin mode. new transmission will cost 140-170 and takes 2 or so hours to replace depending on skill level. total repair cost parts+labor $300ish you may want to ante up for a new machine at this point. if you cant to the labor yourself.
part# should be this: tho double check using your own model#
Part # AP3096209
SOURCE: Kenmore 80 Series Top Load Washer not agitating
Check out this you tube. Had the same problem today. Tipped washer on its side and replaced coupler between motor and gearbox. Parts are about $15
This is a good diagnosis video.

when empty and off, open the lid and see if you can rotate the inner wash basket by hand. if you can easily, then the clutch is worn. This will prevent the basket from going into a high spin and wringing the clothes out. Replace the clutch by removing the top control panel, removing the clips that hold the cabinet, pull cabinet off, remove drain pump clips and pump, remove motor clips and motor, remove transmission (3 bolts). Now you will have access to the clutch, replace as needed, reverse dissasembly to complete. remember to unplug.
