Have you confirmed there is actually a signal at the wall output; is the cable link from the wall to TV good.

SOURCE: Samsung 42" Plasma HDTV cable hookup problem

There sould not have been sparks. Check the following: Using a voltmeter check between the cable itself and ground. There should not be any reading (anything less than .1V is normal). Check again between the inner hole of the RF connector and the outside part. Again there should be less than .1V. If you read any voltage at the RF connector, the TV is faulty and should be exchanged. If you read voltage at the cable, have teh cable company check again.

SOURCE: samsung hdtv how to know if lightning fried it

If the tv will not turn on it is safe to assume that the electrical storm did damage something in your television.

SOURCE: I have a Samsung hdtv but its not playing in hd.I have it hooked up to cable straight from the wall bypassing the cablebox. Is it the tv or cable?

You do not indicate if you have auto programmed the television to get digital channels, If you are selecting a channel without a decimal point, for instance 82.3 is NBC hd in my cable system. If your cable provider does not produce these on direct cable then you can not get HD without a box.
Try to Auto Program your tv in the cable mode STD format, this can take up to 20 minutes to complete scan including deleting scrambled channels. After programming try the lowest or highest analog channel like 2 or 70, channel down or up from there to see if any digital channels appear.

No Digital Channels Detected

Jason, good you have narrowed down the problem. So tv 1 does not detect channels. Re-connet and try making sure all cables are properly connected.

My Vizio LCD HDTV isn't pickup up all of the cable channels, but my other older TVs are?

Did you retry a working TV again on the same input, as it looks like a case of loose contacts in the RC Jack, cable or connectors or some strands of the cable touching the ground. Then check whether your Vizio TV supports the system/format of the cable. If your cable is licensed to be used only with the other TVs, like sensing the identity of the PC used, it could also be a problem

I have my rca model f36665 hooked up strait from the wall to the tv and I can't get it to find the channels. do I have to have a cable box?

First if cable I presume you have entered the menu and selected cable.

Another possible reason is the tuner/s in this set are bad---hook a DVD or something to one of the rear inputs and see if set works.

If set works that way and tuner turns out to be bad you can with a box with av cable out connections on back just go into a rear input and bypass the tuner--leave set on that input and change channels with the box.

Let me know if you have questions and what you find---usually on this set if no signal---"unusable signal" will appear on screen if no signal.

I cant get my tv to get the regular cable channels. i just hooked it up to a new connection, it has no digital box, it runs straight through the cable. ive done the channel search and i dont know what else...

If your TV has a menu button, go into the menu and try setting the input of the TV to the jack that you connected your cable to. Sometimes the TV will not check all the inputs and just does the default one when you do the auto-tune search function to find the active channels. Also, check to see that your wall receptacle is actually hooked into your active cable TV line. You should have a splitter somewhere in the same line that your other TV is using. If not, that jack that you are hooking up your new TV to is probably not active.

Some HD channels won't work on new Samsung tv.

Some hd channels can only be viewed by watching thru a cable box. If you are using a cable box check with your cable provider to see what the issue is.

Programming digital channels

The problem is not with your TV. You need a digital box to unscramble the channels.

Can't find a channel to watch a DVD pre-recorded DVD

you should have a input select button on your remote. video 1 should be the front and video 2 should be the back. i had to buy 3 or 4 different universal remotes when mine messed up just to get the one button to change to change it to the inputs because there is no other way to change it to that with he buttons on the tv. kinda surprised that you didn't try and push that button yet.
