SOURCE: UP RIGHT FRIGIDAIRE FREEZER AUTO DEFROST 11CF I THINK

This could be normal for the summer. This is the right temp to keep it at. Some units are meant to run 80 - 90 % of the time. Turn it all the way up and check the temp. Most units when working properly can get below 0. Check the condensor underneath for dirt and to see if the fan is running under there. (smaller units don't have anything underneath) Some have coils in the rear and the smallest units just use the sides of the cabinet to disperse the heat. Check the gasket see if its sealing properly or maybe the door is warped and not closing at the bottom.

What does the temp display on the freezer tell me?

unless this is a dedicated freezer only and not a side by side or over/under , there's no way it's going to get down too 0 degrees inside a warm home , nope not gonna happen

also its not good for you to set this there as compressor wont cycle properly there and entire freezer will ice up , then believe it or not it will get warmer not colder wastes a lot of power as well

The upright frigdiare freezer displays -10 degrees and runs continusly i couldnt set it to 0

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand your Frigidaire freezer, model# LFFH21F7HWJ, is displaying -10 degrees and runs continuously. I also see that you were unable to set it to 0 degrees. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Sometimes there can be a miscommunication between the different boards inside your appliance. Restore power and try the temperature to 0 degrees. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Chest freezer suddenly stops working then will start again later

This is normal if your freezer is in good working condition. If your compressor runs constantly then there is a problem. Once the unit reaches the set temperature the compressor shuts down. The set temperature should be between -2 & +2 degree F. The set temperature also depends on how full the freezer is. There will be a time when the freezer like refrigerators will shut down. This is relative to the term, "Frost Free". The unit will shut down for about 10 minutes. This occurs ever 8-10 hours. The heater turns on to defrost your freezer coil. It sounds like you are in good shape.

Kenmore upright freezer

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

I am going to assume your compressor and condenser fan is running. Your condenser fan is in the lower back of your freezer.

You will need to remove the back cover in your freezer. There are 6 screws holding it on.

Check the following (Cover Removed):

1.) Frozen Drain - Your freezer goes into a defrost mode every 8-10 hours, where your freezer shuts down except for the lights, and your defrost heater turns on for about 20-30 minutes to defrost your cooling coil. If you have a frozen drain, the condensate builds up behind the back wall and icing the cooling coil, restricting air flow. You must defrost the coil.

2.) Freezer Fan Motor Failure - Having removed the back wall observe if the freezer fan motor is running. If not replace.

3.) Refrigerant Restriction or Leak - If you observe a large build-up of ice in the upper right hand corner, then you have a restriction or leak. The cost of repair would be about $400.00

4.) Bad Thermostat - In the upper right hand corner of you cooling coil, attached is your thermostat. They can explode, where the back of the thermostat will raise up.

You can also check it with a multi-meter, set to the lowest Ohms (Omega Symbol). You need to cut the wires, leaving enough wire length to rewire back in. Put the thermostat in a glass of ice water for 10 minutes. After, it should Ohm out around 16. It is reads '0' or infinity it is bad. Below 15 or 16 it is bad

True Freezer T23 compressor will not stop running

Have him check the t'stat. And freon lines. I believe the t'stat is the problem. Are the door gaskets ok and does it seal properly when closed. The fan should always run, so this could be in the rewiring. I am assuming you will be working out of a freezer where the working temp is a little higher.

I have a true 2 door freezer with bun rack rails...it is runninig between 7 degrees up to 59 degrees...we vacumed the vents...do we need more coolant or what do you think...it is about 4 years old and...

Vacuuming the coil is not usually sufficient to clean them properly. Hold a flashlight behind the radiator on top of the freezer to see if you can see freely through the coils. If not, the best way to clean the coil is to spray coil cleaner on there and flush with plenty of water. It is a mess but it will get the grease off the coild. If you do not have gauges to check the pressures of the refrigerant (lets call it freon), you can get a good guess by doing the following: Get a ladder, climb up so you can see in the top of the cabinet where the compressor is located. It looks kind of like a bowling ball. There will be one small copper line and one large copper line running from the compressor. The small line is the high pressure line. It should be hot enough to burn your finger. It then goes through a small pan where it evaporates excess water, then to a "radiator" which has a fan running behind it. If the machine is running this fan should be on. The small line then runs into the freezer box. At this point the line should be warm, not hot to the touch. If this is not happening you are probably low on freon. The other copper line on the compressor is returning from the freezer box to the compressor. It should be very cold to the touch. It should have moisture collection on it. If this is not happening you are probably low on freon. Other factors can effect your freezer. Make sure the fan near the compressor is running. Make sure the fan or fans inside the freezer are running. They will stop running when you open the door, so hold the door button in when you check the inside fans. Check also to see if there is a build up of ice on the inside coil. Your freezer should run a defrost cycle 4 times a day to remove the ice. If it has ice it will not run properly. If you can remove your product for 24 hours and shut the freezer down, prop the door open and the ice will melt. On restart if the freezer goes down to 0 quickly (30 minutes) it was probably frozen over. This may indicate a bad defrost timer or heater. Try these things.

Gladiator ref is not cooling properly

Check to see if there is cold air coming from the freezer to the refridgerator side through the vent holes The compressor maybe getting weak or the freon charge maybe low. Does the unit run a long time before it shuts off? 50 degrees is not cold enough for a freezer. You should be around 32 or less.

Freezer temperature v

This sounds like your motherboard, computer or control board(they call it different things in different models) is bad. It is responsible for the fan speed and timing of the defrost cycle. To locate your timer, motherboard, control or adaptive defrost control , enter your model number and search for the part or post back on Fixya.

Kenmore 23.1 cf Chest Freezer not cooling below 14F

Make sure everything is working, I.E. compressor, fans. Now I need to know if the freezer shuts off at 14 degrees, or does it continue to run without making temp. If it shuts off, then the first place to look is the thermostat. It may be out of calibration. If it continues to run, then the solution may be as simple as cleaning the condenser coil. or the defrost has malfunctioned somehow. Defrost probleams will cause excess ice on the inside coil. You may need to remove the panels to see how much ice is on it. It sounds like the compressor is good, as it is pretty cold. Just not cold enough. A deep freeze should be at least 0.
