I have a Sanyo Split System Air Conditioner. The unit works well but the remote does not turn it on or off. It feels as if there is no connection between the unit and the remote and so the unit keeps on working until the room is freezing. It will not longer shut off automatically. The screen on the remote is on but the ON/OFF button does not work. Do you think there might be a bad connection or should I purchase a new remote? And would a new remote solve the problem? I would appreciate some help.

Take your cellphone and turn on the camera,then put the remote in front of the cell and push any button.if you see the light of the remote to the cell then the remote is ok and the problem is to the eye of the plate.its a small plate in front of the split
How did you turn it on? if by remote then it is working, maybe try resetting the unit by off and on circuit breaker.
