I have a cub cadet zero turn z force 48 yesterday i was cutting lawn and i heard a clink, the mower stopped, i was ablet o start the mower again but when i pulled the pto knob to engage the blades the mower turns off by its self, when the pto lever is pulled up i can restart the mower what is causing this and how do i fix it
I have a cub cadet zero turn 50' mower, i start mowing and after about 10 minutes it starts running out of gas, i pull out the choke to keep it going but it just keeps getting worse to the point of quitting. If i slow it down to a idle or just a little more it will stay running but that is not fast enough to cut the grass. does anybody out there know why i am runnung out of gas. I put a new filter on it, It did not help.
The cub cadet is a great machine and it is sophisticated as mowers go. the blades are controlled by a vacuum controlled by a part called a vacuum actuator. Most likely this part has gone bad and will need to be replaced.
There are 4 relay switches ( had the same problem) 2 were bad. call dealer order switches and change them
SOURCE: Cub cadet Z Force 48 inch zero turn blades won't engage
I hope this will help you...under the side panels on each side of the mower, there are "reverse lockout safety switches", they are supposed to stop the blades when both handles are pulled back. If one or both of the switches are out, the deck will not engage. Also, under the right side panel (when sitting on seat) there should be 3 relay switches, the one closest to the motor controls the PTO., if this is out, the PTO will not engage.

My cub Cadet Zforce 50 has a similar problem - the mower only engages when I am in reverse. Same issue?
mine just did the same thing, the last of my problems was the belt. two days ago i tried to pull the pto button and it wouldnt work, at the back of the zero turn, under neath but the bar there is a round pully thing, on the back there is like a tab and if that tab is not in the pully will lock and wont let the zero turn pto button work. i had to all the lawnmower repair guy out to fix it but i watched what he did. he just tapped the tab down and now it works and goes into third gear.
The i1042 I own does cut out while mowing and needs the spring bracket that holds the PTO in place released so the clutch can be turned slightly to get it to work again.
