I was getting the same error codes and the system would not reload from any recovery disks. I discovered a RAM chip was faulty and when I removed the faulty chip I was able to reload the OS onto the system without a problem.

It may be shutting down due to dust packed within the cooling fan and copper heat shield. Their are monitored thermostats that auto kill for good reason. I would also place some new heat sink compound on top of the CPU. So start there you will have to be careful when accessingbthis area..

After you have gone through all of that information above the next time this happens to you with Windows 7 make a back up image file and a recovery boot disk everyone please do this right away when the system is in good working order it will save you hours of headaches and trying to cipher through all these explanations. Also you will want to use a software program to totally erase the hard disc and really start fresh. Hirens or Dban there are others out there free. Just go to Google and type in free hard disc eraser software.

But all the recovery CD back up both image file and boot disk was fail, what solution you can do?

There are a huge amount of solutions here. What's most likely corrupt is the hard drive. If you do not wish to purchase another one. And get a original factory recovery disc. Or have another computer handy online and if there is no hardware issue. Then you may consider shopping it with a repair place. Or purchase another lap top.

Laptop: Sony Vaio Serial Tag: C3LRMD7Q Model: PCG7133L Need information for recovery disks for the foremention laptop. The OS is Windows VISTA Home Premiun.

Hi,

The VAIO Model VGN-NR498E/S is shipped with Recovery partition in the hard drive. It is required to create the recovery discs as soon as you get the notebook. Using either recovery discs or the recovery center you can reinstall the preinstalled OS in the computer. But, it depends if you has changed the preinstalled OS, the recovery partition will be erased and no longer be accessible.

However, in your case, if you not made any changes to the preinstalled OS, restart the computer and press and hold the F10 key. this will launch the recovery tools. On the next screen, press Enter key. Then you will be able to view options such as "Restore C Drive", "System Restore" etc. There select "Restore C Drive" to reinstall the preinstalled Vista OS in the Computer.

If you have changed the preinstalled OS in the computer, then it is requires to purchase the recovery discs from Sony's parts center:

https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/productSearch.do?searchOperation=partSearch&searchText=Y8318272A&sessionId=pfBoWO6gh7vj_fseXl4oiMI

The above part is no longer available with them However, you can use the part #Y8318272A to search for the recovery discs with online retailers and others.

Thanks!!!!

Hi what is the buttom i press while i turn on my laptop to recover vista vgn cr490 i try but didnt work

Try with F10 key at start up.

Restart the System, tapping the F10 key immediately. This should trigger the System to boot directly to the Recovery Partition, and initiate the VAIO Recovery Center, without requiring the Windows Operating System to load.

In the VAIO Recover Center, select the option 'Restore C: Drive' and follow the onscreen instructions to perform a C: Drive Recovery.

Performing a C: Drive Recovery will erase all the data present in the C: Drive and will reinstall the preinstalled Operating System, Applications and the original Drivers.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!

I need VAIO® VGN-FJ170/B Restore Disks

You can create your own disc from the Vaio recovery center.

If the computer is no longer booting up and the Vaio Recovery center is no longer accessible, you can call sony parts center to check if you can buy a recovery disc for your unit
