Check that the drain pipe is not blocked or has a bend in it as this will stop water passing easily, remove and blow down pipe to make sure its clear. (wash out mouth afterwards) if this is fine then the pump must be weak or something is stopping its movement. if it is the pump you will need to remove it from washer and open the pump up by the 3 screws and remove the propeller and clean out the housing and pump parts, should be magnetic type and easy to fix. build up of food debris can limit the pump from moving.

SOURCE: When the dishwasher cycle is complete there is a thick, cloudy film

jcb...It may be that your detergent is not the right one for the job, you're using an amount that is too much or too little or your water isn't hot enough. Water should be at least 125 degrees. If you don't have an turkey/candy thermometer, run the hot water and put your hand under it...carefully. If you can hold it there...not hot enough.

You might also see if there are filter screens in your unit. Clean them.

My wash cycles are not cleaning dishes because water is not hot enough. Wash times have sometimes increased for same cycle.

It might be your dishwasher detergent. Try adding some TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) to your detergent.

Dishwasher overheats. Melts plastic dishes.Dryer cycledoesnot shutoff. Could this be a stuck timer? What to do?

Most dishwashers have safety thermal switches in place. If your dishwasher heater rise up above the normal temperature then this safety will burned out stop the runaway heater. Having said this

a) May be your timer is stuck. Is it mechanical or electronic. If mechanical you will see the timer not reaching end of cycle.

b) Sometime light weight plastic dishes fly off rack in wash cycle and land on the bottom of dishwasher touching the heater. Of course these will melt or burn when the heater comes at towards the end of cycle. THIS IS COMMON.

My dishwasher tablet ends up on the floor of the dishwasher at the end and the dishes are gritty

Kay - Cloudy or gritty dishes are due to hard water deposits. Starting in summer 2010, many states have passed laws that prohibit phosphates in dishwasher detergent. The phosphates were good at removing hard water deposits. After the law changed, detergents don't work very well anymore. So I created a product that solves the problem. It's all-natural, contains no phosphate, and it works great! It's a powder. You add 1-2 tablespoons to each wash cycle and you use a lot less of your normal detergent. So your cost per wash does not increase. See my website at www.CitriClean.net

I get a film on the inside of dishwasher as well as dishes at the end of a cycle. You can really see the cloudy film on glasses. Dishwasher is only 18 months old.

Cloudy film is usually from hard water. Or it means the dishes arn't drying properly. you wanna make sure your using jet dry and that your not using liquid soap. Liquid soap is a killer of dishwashers and creates mineral deposits. If you have hard water getting a water softener helps too. Theres a cleaning agent called dishwasher magic that works to clean the dishwasher . You wanna make sure your heater is coming on too.

Standing water at end of cycle

It is normal for a small amount of water to remain after each loadof dishes is cleaned.

Is the water clear or cloudy?
Is there an odor?

How deep is the water? Less the two inches?

Post back with your findings here. OK?

I got a layer of white cloudy film on my dishes after normal wash

Doing a full vinegar cleaning of the diswhasher is a good start, and every 6 months or so if you have hard water.
But, I have proven that using ultra-cheap dishwasher powder will cause this problem too. Recommend after you do the cleaining with white vinegar through a quick cycle with no detergent, you use only a brand name powder (like Cascade or Electrosol) and see if problems persist.
If problems remain, the heating element has probably failed. Once it is replaced, you will see a dramatic improvement. Good Luck!
