Stop Credit Card Payment

Bought an used bedroom set Saturday, should be here Monday. My husband surprised me with a bedroom given by his sister. Do not have room for the one I bought. Can I stop payment since the merchant does not accept refunds or exchanges?

Most credit card companies will allow you to cancel the payment.

I use american express and when i have problems like this then i just call them up and they cancel the payment and i return the item.

Just call your credit card customer support. Most likely they will cancel the payment.

File a chargeback with your credit card company for the PayPal transaction. You could also file a complaint in the Dispute Resolution Center against the seller in question.

How do I get my money back?

I sent money to the wrong email address, but the payment is completed. What do I do? Question : Answer : PayPal cannot reverse payments that have been claimed. We recommend that you contact your recipient directly and make arrangements to have the money refunded to you via PayPal or another method of your choosing.
If you don't receive a refund, you can file a dispute within 45 days of the payment date. Here's how to file a dispute:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click Resolution Center near the top of the page.
  3. Click Dispute a Transaction.
  4. Click Item dispute and click Continue.
  5. Click Find transaction ID, then click the transaction ID you want to dispute.
  6. Click Continue and follow the instructions

If you would like a refund, start by getting in touch with your seller. Most sellers welcome the chance to work out any problems.

Here's what we recommend:

Contacting your seller


To find the seller's contact information:

Opening a dispute

If you purchased your item on eBay, you'll go to eBay's Resolution Center to open your dispute. If you made your purchase somewhere else, go to PayPal's Resolution Center.

  1. Go to the eBay homepage and log in to your eBay account.
  2. Click eBay Security & Resolution Center at the top of the page.

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click Resolution Center at the top of the page.
  3. Click Dispute a Transaction and follow the directions.

If you are sure that the credit card is fine, you need to contact Paypal. There were few situations in the past when people do face this issue and Payapal had some issue's from their end. You could contact Paypal by clicking on help option on :-

It depends on what you have to transfer money to the Paypal account. For example; if Paypal does your payment by way of a bank transaction, then just ask for a stop payment from your bank account. Generally if the paypal account is not linked to any Credit Card or Debit Card the money u transfer to that account will return back. But in your case check with your bankers or write to paypal about this. We dont know whether the recipient has linked his account or not, if he has not linked with any credit or debit card , then your money will return back.
