The DMC-FZ5 works with any SD card, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Forget the cable. Do what the pros do...use a card reader.

This could be due to some dust particles trapped in between the lens segments. Check with an authorized service center.

I know exactly what you mean, try some canned air, blow it softly into the holes, might need to take it apart little to get it in there to get rid of the dust.

takeing your camera apart may void the warranty.

PSE is giving you the screen resoultion which is always 72 no matter what camera you use, it has noting to do the the overall image resolution.
