Laptop won't connect to new Belkin G Wireless Router

I just replaced my ancient Linksys wireless b router with a new faster Belkin g router.
My old desktop and my new netbook both pick up the faster g wireless fine. Both of those, plus my old Gateway M6124 XP laptop, also see its higher speed if they are plugged onto an ethernet cable. I love it.
One wireless problem - the Gateway laptop will not recognize the new wireless signal and cannot detect the wireless network.
It uses a Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter with a BCMWL5.SYS driver from 2005, version 3.100.64.0. I jiggered all its adapter settings to no avail. Also the router settings seem clean - no encryption, no protection mode, etc.
I cannot find a newer BCMWL5.SYS driver version for Gateway. Uniblue's driver scan does not flag it as being out of date.
What am I missing here?
Thanks for any help. I ran a cable over to the laptop and my wife wants it gone !

A wireless client does not need a proprietary router driver installed on it to recognize an 802.11g wireless signal.

Everything in my house is picking up this 802.11g signal except the problematic XP laptop.

If someone could interact with me about my problem in complete English I would really appreciate the help. Thanks folks !

Solved !

No, you do not need a proprietary wireless client driver from your router manufacturer. Although some router manufacturers do supply them.

But if you don't have one managing your connection, then you need to turn on WZC - the Windows Wireless Zero Configuration service. Find it and start it with Start > Control Panel > Administravtives Tools > Services. Or, if you prefer, type msconfig /all into the Run box and then find and start WZC in the Services tab.

Belkin n750 db connects with windows 7 laptop, but will not connect with xp laptop. It will not let me enter the password.

It is possible that, if you have the router set to wireless N only, your XP machine won't interact with it. Your XP adapter probably doesn't support wireless "N"--you'll have to tell the router to use "N" or "G"

Belkin router not giving signal to linksys adapter HELP!!!!!

I dont think belkin has a stable driver for win.7 at this time. I have a belkin n router with a belkin adapter and had no luck.
Some people have had some success using a Vista driver.
You could go to www.bioticaindia.com and download a win 7 driver there. They show a 48% success rate.

Yes. 1. Disable the DHCP in the belkin router. 2. Take the cable from the LAN port of the Linksys router to the LAN port of the Belkin Router. 3. Dont touch anything else in any of the routers.

I have a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO Router and a Toshiba Satellite Laptop. The laptop will not connect to the wireless signal from the router. It shows it as an option on the laptop, but will not connect....

It appears that your neighbour has an unprotected wireless router setup for you (and anyone else) to connect into his router and get onto the Internet. You should suggest to him to secure his wireless router.

To connect into your own wireless router, you need to configure the wireless card with your router's wireless configuration settings, eg.the SSID and encryption settings. Check your router manual on how to configure the router or go to the Belkin WEB site to download this info.
You can also connect to the Internet by using a LAN cable and plug it into the Belkin router.

No print sharing. Existing but lder Belkin router has no problems, but WRT54g-TM will not print share. Have a Netgear switch box as well, can I integrate the two or even all three to solve print share...

If you are using a belkin router, wrt54g-tm and netgear switch box. Basically they won share the printing. you need a wireless print server..try the linksys WPS54GU2

Connection to a Belkin usb

if you are using the belkin utility (look at your task bar, there should be an icon that looks like a tv screen), open it and you will prompted with a belkin screen. now go to the AP List tab and locate the wireless name of you linksys router and connect to it. make sure that your using the same wireless settings like the wireless security (if you have enabled it on your router) so as to make the connection successful. if you are not sure about your wireless settings, open a web browser to a hardwired computer and type http://192.168.1.1 (default ip address of your router). you will prompted with a log in screen, leave the username blank and type admin (default password) on the password. then you will be prompted with a linksys screen, go to the wireless tacb and check your wireless ssid/name and look for the wireless security sub tab to verify the wireless password that you are using.

Cannot connect laptop to wireless router

probably nothing..go to the maker of your computer, and get a fresh wireless driver set..maybe the old one did not include linksys..it does happen in MSoft land.
