I am trying to fly in arma 2 using my joy stick, however X- is failing to register when i change the controls

grab the Logitech Gaming software 5.02 (I used the 64bit, make sure you grab the correct one!).
Note, I have a logitech MX 518 gaming mouse, and after installing the above, I could no longer use my button assignments in any games. The mouse functioned like an old 2 button mouse. I have a feeling there is some conflict between the mouse software/driver and the logitech software/driver.

You might want to call Logitech support for this issue as it's an hardware failure this is covered by warranty terms. You should get a replacement unit.
