Sounds very similar to having something such as a sock or small article of clothing that is too large to be sucked down the drain hose into the pump. So what happens is it hangs around between the inner and outer drums and sometimes gets itself lodged over the drum drain hole, and can allow water to be centrifically flung over the top of the drum. Most times when the spin cycle stops, the article of clothing will dislodge and float around inside the drum only to do it again later....
If you can remove the top of the machine, you can usually see the gap between the two drums and use a piece of coathanger wire with a small hook on the end and "go fishing in the area between the two drums and close to the drain hole location... bet you'll find something in there... Let me know how it goes... and if I can help .. ken

The motor sounds like it is overloading and kicking out. Most likely cause: binding brake pads.

Amana washing machine (ALW880QAW). Does not work in spin cycle. Washer works ok in wash cycle, and in draining water, just the new belt is too loose when it switches to spin. It just burns up the belt....

probably the lid switch is faulty, remove screws behind control panel, then pull control panel toward you and lift up and lay back, now remove 2 screws in the lower front panel by the floor and remove the cover, then 2 more screws to remove upper front panel above the lower one, then 2 more screws in front hold the top on then raise top up like a car hood and the lid switch will be under the top cover

Amana washing machine makes loud noice when trying to spin

sounds like you are dealing with the same problem as me .
take off the front panel (after unplugging power) take a flash lite and look at the large pulley at the back just below the pulley is the helix check to see if they are worn .

Will not spin and then when I try to start the cycle over all it will do is aggitate. It is also overfilling and spilling onto the floor. It is a top loading GE washer and is just over a year old.

sounds like the water level switch is not working pop the front cover off and see if the tube on the left of the tub is still hooked up. to remove front cover use a putty knife and slide between thee top and the front cover you wil feel the knife stop about two inces from each side push in on the place where it stopped and pull out on the front cover

Hi, I have a 5yr old Amana Distinctions Super Capacity Plus top load washer, 2spd motor, 3.3 cu ft. I have taken off the front cover to expose the wash tub, because recently when the washer is in a spin...

sounds like a drain pump issue, not able to remove water quick enough before the centrifical force of tub spinning throws it over the top, remove the pump hoses and look for blockages

Amana NAV5800 - How do I take off the lid/cover

Jon,

There should be two screws at the bottom of the front panel. Undo these screws and the bottom of the panel should swing out. The top will be held by clips or pins that will release as the bottom of the panel moves out. I suggest you lay a folded towel on the floor to prevent chipping the enamel finish when the panel drops free.

By the way, please ensure the machine is unplugged before you attempt any work on electric appliances.

Good luck
