To solve need more info if this is still a problem.
Is your comcast dvr connected directly to the tv, and also the DVD connected directly to the TV?
If so then you will need to change the input selection on your tv remote to determine which inputs these devices are connected to.
If you are connected differently, please post how your devices are connected.

I have a Philips DVDR 3575H. using Comcast's

Try this set up-

Use an RCA audio/video cable for this set up (Yellow/Red/White).

Connect from the Video out (Yellow) connection on the back of the cable box to the Video in on the back of the DVR.

Connect the audio (Red/White) cables from audio out connection on the back of the cable box to the "Audio in" on the back of the DVR.

This should still get you a decent picture but not a true HD picture for your recordings.

When you set the timer to record set it to record either E1 or E2 depending on which input you connected the cable box to and ensure that the cable box is tuned to the channel you wish to record.

*** NOTE: If you keep the HDMI cable connected as you have for the cable box and watch normal TV through the HDMI input on the TV you will get HD programming for your general viewing but still have the option to record with the DVR at a lower quality. ***

Good Luck and please rate this solution....

I've a Panasonic 42' Plasma tv purchased recently and when I connect my Comcast DVR box via Composite A/V connection, I see only black n white images..

Be sure the 3 video wires are color matched on both ends. Try a different cable. Connect another device like dvd player to that same Component input if it's ok then cable box is the problem. If still B/W then replaced a/v or main board.

Product DMR-EH50, UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM.

I think I may have the "answer".

I am in Atlanta and have a Panasonic DVR that was working fine and sometime during the past month or so we lost the channel listings. I've tried many resets as well with negative results.

I called Comcast tonight. The agent helping me took a long time to research the issue and gave me this answer (which sounds reasonable). By the way, this is for the Atlanta area and may not be applicable to other areas of the country.

Due to delays in the conversion to broadcast digital and the fact that Comcast is experiencing bandwidth issues, they have digitized the "channel listing" signal. By mid-June Comcast's signal will be all digital and you won't be able to watch a TV connected directly to Comcast cable - regardless of whether it has digital or analog tuner (or both). This is contrary to what I'd heard before.

After mid-June, you'll either need to use a cable box OR what she called a "Digital Transmitter Adapter" (let's call it a DTA). Prior to being converted to "full" digital, you'll get notification from Comcast. She said I'd be able to get 2 DTAs at no charge (I currently have one Comcast HD DVR box). Additional DTAs would be $1.99 a month. DTAs will only provide access to the "basic" cable channels, but the good news is that the Panasonic DVR should be able to obtain its channel lineup through this DTA box.

Good Luck!

Record DVDs frrom Cable box DVR

Buy a recorder that records both +/-R and double layer disks.
I haven't seen a Comcast dvr but you should connect it to the svideo out port of the dvr to the svideo in of the recorder and the audio out to the audio in. If the Comcast doesn't have svideo use the video ports instead
