Before you downgrade operating system you should enter bios setup. turn on >>> press DEL key repeatedly On Hard drive section >>>change AHCI to IDE >>> save and exit you can start install win xp. Note : to upgrade to win 7 do reverse
First you have to create partition.You need at least two partition. One in which you intall Xp and other for win 7. WARNIG BACK UP YOUR DATA BEFORE THIS.*(You can create partion by any hard drive manager you can make a hard drive partition in control panel>administrative tool>create & manage hard drive partition) Now install xp first in one partition. If you have pre installed then avoid this step. Now install Win 7 in another partition. After you restart the machine will ask to chose your os. & just select the required OS.
If any problem appears then just put win XP disk & repair it.
You cant install win Xp after windows 7. You have to format win 7 before installing Xp. Commiting any of trick or Tweak you need to backup your data in another HD partition WARNIG BACK UP YOUR DATA
ok get a windows 7 disk and turn of the computer and ad the hard drive switch on the computer and set it to boot from disk (seems windows is broken on the 500gb hdd) then boot from disk and install windows 7 to the 500 gb hard drive and set in the bios the boot select for the hard drive (if you use win xp more then make that boot primary) then go threw all the rigmarol of installing windows 7 to the 500 gb one and your done it will have bootable hard drives and will offer a choice when first switched on
you must trying re partition ur hdd with 3rd software like Ranish partition or partition magic, or you can try with fdisk from microsoft DOS with cd booting before you try to installed it with another system operation like win XP or win 2000 okey
Do you see the Hard Disk Light ON during the time your computer is frozen? If that is the case there maybe an issue with the Hard Disk Controller.
When you installed a new version of Windows XP, did you format your entire Hard disk? (Just to make sure that your computer doesn't have a viral infection?)
Also, is it that the computer freezes when you press Alt+Enter ...or is it like the computer freezes after you press the Windows Key and then Alt+Enter?
