Sound like you might have a high voltage ribbon going to the picture module arching. Turn the Volume down and put your ear close to the edge of the set and see if you heard a arching or a high frequency pitch coming from the side or top..

Dear Jeremy,
BEST PRACTICE: ALWAYS WEAR AN ANTI-STATIC WRIST-BAND WHEN FIDDLING IN THE BOX!
The human body can store up to 50,000 volts static electricity which is more than enough to fry components. MAKE SURE YOU ARE EARTHED! (1.): Switch power off at wall. Leave plugs in - (this will ensure that the computer is 'earthed'. (2.):Open box. (3.):Connect anti-static wrist-band alligator clip to bare metal frame of box - a bare screw head will do if you can not see any uncoated metal in the box). The password jumper has 3x sockets in a row. (4.):Move jumper plug to other 2x sockets to reset - (blank) - password. (5.): Remove anti-static clip. (6.): Close box cover. (7.): Power-on at wall. (8.): Reboot. If you want to reset a new Password, repeat above steps & move jumper-plug to other 2 sockets...when you reboot, you will be asked to enter new password. I hope that this helps - 'b'ye - Bruce.

My Samsung LN-S4092D LCD TV is exhibiting a strobing/flickering screen occasionally. I've read that cutting the jumper cable will fix this, but I'm not sure which wire is my jumper. Does Anyone...

It could possibly be a HDMI cable that is bad. If it is hooked up that way, I have found that problem before. Not sure about the jumper cable.

SCREEN FLICKERING

The power supply module in this tv is part number BN44-00341A,
Samsung's dealer info says to:
For BN44-00341B; cut and remove jumper JP852.
This jumper wire is located just below the part number stamp on the pc board, I've done several of these and it cures the problem.

My Samsung plasma tv is only around 4yrs old and suddenly started going from normal to dimmer projection, flickering between the two, is there a way to fix it or should I get a new tv

I have seen this in Samsung sets before, the flickering is likely a jumper in the power supply that needs to be removed, they had this issue on a number of sets---a jumper in the power supply (that board) likely is causing this, someone else here did post the location but search the model number with google for flickering and you may find it, it was widespread and as a last resort call Samsung or even a authorized service center.

I hope this helps and if you want (I spend a lot of time and effort answering questions here and if you get me the full model number I will research it when I get a chance, answer about 600 questions here a week.

Google the model number with "flickering" and I bet you can find a lot of info.

Happy holidays, Temp here is 11 degrees F right now but warm now inside the house.

The screen is flickering

Call Samsung as on some of their models it is a known issue= on those a jumper needs to be removed from the power supply board, seems the wrong board was installed and is causing flashing on scene changes where brightness goes up and down.
