We have a DC07 which recently has been very difficult and heavy to push forward. When attempting to push forward it appears that the front cleaning head wants to dig into the carpet, and with the suction it is extremely difficult to move. You can pull cleaner backwards ok though. Anyone got any ideas?
On the front of the base there are 3 very small rollers made out of rubber, these are either just dry and won't turn or worn and or damaged,
that is your problem / honest its that simple
sorry i got it wrong, as an engineer you wouldn't believe the amount of rollers i have fixed for the fault you described above, i have the same machine myself and have looked again at what it could be and the only other thing i could suggest is that the base plate screws, the plastic ones you turn a half turn to lock the plate with, could be rubbing on the carpet, or maybe the roller has moved and could be off line a bit, other than that i am stuck without looking at it personally sorry
Thank you Mick.

Thankyou for your suggestion. I looked at the rollers. They are all completely free and spin easilly. When viewed from the side when the machine is in action, it's as if the very front of the cleaning head is too low and tries to dig into the carpet when pushed forward. Everything appears to be located properly though ? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thankyou.
The base plate screws are all fine and secure. On the underside of the cleaning head on the right,(as viewed from above) under the small grey hose, there is a small shaped plastic area formed the same shape as the hose. I have gaffer taped a small obstacle to this part, which prevents the cleaning head being able to tilt as far forward, thus not being able to dig into the carpet as much. There is no problem with the suction unless its possible to have too much. This makes pushing the cleaner forward, much easier. Yes I know it's a bodge but does that give anyone any other ideas?
Did you ever find a solution other than taping that piece underside?
I wondered if you ever found a solution other than taping something on the underside?
