Remove the memory card from the camera (it is next to the batteries). On the side of the card is a little switch, set this to unlocked. You will then be able to write to the card again.

I830 digital camera reads card locked

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

When i take a picture there is a pause for a couple seconds before it flashes and actually takes the picture

That's called "shutter lag", common on point-and-shoot cameras. You can lessen it by pressing the button half-way and allowing the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep) before pressing the rest of the way.

Pictures

Hi,
The polaroid i830 does not have a good in built memory so u cannot take more than 2 pictures at a resolution of 8 mega pixels and 16mb is as good as no memory :-)
So, either you need to buy a SD card (I have 2 GB working perfectly fine with my i830) or reduce the resolution to VGA.
Steps:
1. Switch on the camera.
2. Push the button below 'M'.
3. You will find the option of resolution, select VGA.

You can now store upto 30 images.

There is no response from the camera while pressing any buttons.
The LCD screen is frozen or the camera is hanged.
Remove and re-install the battery or batteries to reset the camera. Your valuable data stored in the camera will not be lost.

I hope some of this helps, if not above is the contact number for Polaroid tech support. You camera seems to be still covered under warranty.

Polaroid i830 camera takes terrible pics close up, red looks black, blurry help!

TRy in MACRO mode, and the reds can be fixed in Picasa (free from google) All cameras have minimum focus distance, maybe you are just getting too close. There is also a white balance. It usually says sunshine, overcast, tungsten and fluorescent. This shifts the color spectrum to best suit the type of lighting.
