Try cleaning the coils usually located at the rear of the unit. If the coils are not clean the compressor will not be able to work properly.

SOURCE: Refrigator is not Cooling anything

Michael, couple of things to check. Is the compressor running? If not remove the back panel and check the overload and relay. It should be a white box on the side of the compressor. Unplug the cord and remove it. Shake it, does it rattle? If so, there's your problem. If that's not the case look for a frost up on the back of the freezer on the panel. If it is all frosted up, you have a defrost issue. Catriver...post back.

SOURCE: Warm refrig and freezer

You probably need some refrigerant added. There probably is a leak in the system that caused the lack of refrigerant. Get the leak fixed and add refrigerant before you blow your compressor too. Or get a new fridge.

Unplug the Ref for 15-20 min., plug it back in and listen for the compressor to start. You will need to be behind the Ref so you can tell if the compressor or the fan is running. It will help to take the cover off so you can see the compressor.
Compressor not running but you hear a clicking noise. The relay needs to be replaced.
Compressor runs but not cooling. Low on coolant

Kenmore side by side Refrigerator top portion is not getting cold. The freezer is working and the bottom portion of the refrigerator is cold but not the top portion of the refrig,

the refrigerator simply by transferring the cold air from freezer via circulation fan the temp controls tells the fan to circulate cold air until the thermostat is satisfied I would check to see if the fan is blowing on most models I have seen its located in the left rear wall closest to the freezer above the top shelf

It is warm in the refrigerator and we have the control set on maximum cold

the damper vent door in between the freezer and refrige compartments isnt opening or the evaporator fan isn't operating as long as the freezer is ok,then this door is at the rear floor of the freezer and the roof of the refrige compartments and is behind a plastic grille remove this grille to see if door is frozen open or broken

Kenmore refrigerator-model#106.74254400 freezer is working fine, refrig. will not get cold. Any ideas?

the damper vent door between the 2 compartments is not opening to let cold air in from freezer to refrige, also make sure fan is also running to push cold air through this door,a lot of times its either frozen shut from moisture or the door shaft breaks and it jams shut or the damper door motor goes bad,its a 106.xxxxxxxx model so whirlpool produced it for kenmore

Kenmore refrig/freezer. freezer side is cold,

Check your condenser coil (should be below the refrig.). If dirty, you can clean it with a condenser brush from Home Depot or Lowe's. Turn the appliance off while cleaning. Be careful not to damage the refrigerant tubing (copper). If this doesn't solve the problem, then there may be an issue with the defrost thermostat, defrost heater(s) or the main temperature control assembly.

Contact an appliance service company.

Frezzer works refig not getting cold

sounds like it is a fan issue - there is a fan the blows the cold air from the freezer section in to the refrig section, stick ur head in the refrig section and see if you hear a fan running - you probably wont - you will actually probably start to notice that the freezer section is getting really really cold, like to the point of a deep freeze... the good news is that as long as the freezer section is cold your compressor is still working, so this will not be all that spendy to fix...
