Without additional info. Check some of the basics.

With you user manual or perhaps info found on your router log directly into your router thru your browser. If you can't find the IP for it anywhere on a label or in your literature try typing192.168.0.1 into your browser and hitting <enter>

Sometimes the default IP address is found on the router label if that doesn't get you to the login screen for the router. If you get to the login screen, your default User ID and password is often ADMIN, then ADMIN again. Once there you need to get into the wireless settings setup or find your SSID. (Your Wireless Network Name or technically your Service Set ID) Exampe: JohnsHouse Then you need to find or set your Pass key, sometimes called pin or password. Example 1234. These two things need to also match in the settings on any WiFi device you are attempting to add on to your network, such as a smart phone, tablet, or other WiFi device.
As with making any changes, write down the before and after settings of anything you change. Make sure to save when you are done. If a change doesn't work at least go back in and change things back to the state they were before you started. Additionally most routers have a reset that will change everything back to default factory settings. Doing that may change settings you have not written down. Those settings including the admin User Name and password. Everything will change to that factory default. The reset is usually found as a small hole that you depress a tiny button using the end of a paper clip or ball point pen. If you don't know what you are doing I don't advise resetting your router though. If you are still unsure I suggest contacting tech support for your specific router. They should be able to walk you through it on the phone.

Unable to connect to the internet using a linksys wireless adapter. Connects to the router but can't find the internet.

Isolate the issue by directly connecting the PC to the router via ethernet cable (if possible).

If you were able to get online while hardwired connected to the router, then check the IP address of the wireless network connection, check the wireless security if the network key matches.

If you cannot get online while hardwired to the router, then directly connect the computer to the modem.

If you were able to get online while directly connected to the modem, then the problem is the internet settings on the router. Check the WAN configuration, such as DHCP or PPPoE.

If you cannot get online when directly connected to the modem, then you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider.

Cannot connect my Mac Pro to the internet via my Belkin wireless

With the router powered on, use a small thin object to press and hold the reset button for exactly seven seconds. The router lights will flash and this will restore the router to factory default. Connect your computer to one of the routers lan ports with an etherent cable. Open your web browser and navigate to 192.168.2.1. This should show the router status page with the default settings.

This will make the router unsecured again, so be sure to go back into setup and reset your Wireless security. I suggest using WEP authentication, and using a 10 digit ph # for your key (that way its easy to remember).

WRT54G, unable to install router

  • Since you have Internet connectivity through the router using a direct connection to the router, then you just need to access the router's setup page and re-configure wireless.
  • But first, check if the wireless light is on in the router.
  • Then, using a computer that is wired to the router, launch IE and type 192.168.1.1 on the address field.
  • It will then ask for the password. By default it is admin. Just click ok and it will lead you to the setup page of the router.
  • Then, on the menu click Wireless. Look for wireless network name or SSID. That is the name of your wireless network. By default it is set to "linksys". You may change it to a uniqune name and then save the settings.
  • Then, if you want to enable security in your Wireless network, click on Wireless Security.
  • Set security mode to WPA Personal and create your network key. It should be atleast 8 characters.
Hope this helps!

Wireless conections

Try the http://192.168.1.1 to access the router config page (needs Ethernet cable to be connected to the Router)
If config page still does not appear, then check your Internet Explorer settings> Security Level (not set to custom) If it is, then choose RESET ALL ZONES TO DEFAULT LEVEL and then try this address again. It worked for me.
