I unplugged the power supply for more than 24 hours. Whenever I plug in the turntable, the stop/start button flashes red on and off (the red should be solid). The arm locks up and won't move unless forced. Even if the arm is moved, the platter will not spin. I tried holding down the Stop/Start button, but nothing happens.
Don't try and force anything that won't move. Try this. With the power unplugged, place the tonearm over the record, if it will move freely, while rotating the platter by hand. Move the tonearm slowly over the surface of the platter until the end. Continue turning the platter by hand and see if the tonearm picks up and returns to the rest. See if that fixes your issue. i don't know if these are belt driven or not but i would check to see if the belt fell off, if motor driven then i would suspect a bad motor.

Hi,
I have the exact same problem with my TT - a PS-X55. It appears that the motor has failed. Too bad, as I was told the replacement motor part is no longer stocked by Sony. For what it's worth - the part number is 154116500.
Let me know if you manage to find some who has the exact part stocked.

did you ever open the turntable. It sounds like the on/off switch is bad. Remove the platter and screws with a phillips screw driver and just make sure the connections are in place. make sure you disconnect the power first. let me know what happens afterwards.

One ov my decks (same Gemini PT-1000 II) had the same problem. Just open it and clean the micro switches underneath the big buttons. It worked fine for me.
SOURCE: the arm will not return to stationary and the table keeps spinning afer the record is played
HI...
One or two mechanical linkages inside have "let go"
Denon is good stuff. Depending on where you live I might be able to suggest someone to fix it.
