SOURCE: coleman powermate 6250 generator will not start
I have one of these generators, and I can tell you that at least once a year, I have to pull the petcock type assembly off tank, and clean it. I also drain and clean the tank. It gets a sediment build up, and the petcock system isn't the greatest in the world. I'm going to say that you either have a problem in the petcock type assembly, or you have a stuck jet in the carb, either of these can happen with it sitting for the long period of time. Start by removing the fuel line to the carb and checking the fuel flow. Sounds like you may have already done this, I'm unclear on that. Then I would remove the carb, and soak it overnight in a penetrating oil. This will loosen up any rust or parts that may be sticking. One other thing you may consider, depending on where you live, you may have a mud dauber or wasp nest in the intake or other critical area of the engine. I still get amazed at where I find mud dauber nests occasionally, the little buggers seem to be able to get anywhere.
SOURCE: generator shutting down after 1.5 of run time
I had the same problem with a simular generator. I took it to a repair shop who told me it was the "low oil sensor". They fixed it and it lasted another 1.5 hours. I told my-self I would monitor the oil and cut the "low oil sensor" electronic line. It has laster 12 years as a backup generator running at least 200 hours per year. I still have it but have switched to a larger generator. If you, or whoever uses it, can watch the oil level, then cut this line, it will be fine. This sensor is for those who are not able to measure oil level !!!

most generators have a reset button. check your manual under the trouble shooter section good luck.

Hi,
Usually a power surge (short) or sometimes an overload will take out the diodes. Like you have suggested I would say that you have just knocked out one... Test them and replace the bad one and you should be good to go.
I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!
Thanks for using Fixya!!

there can be many reasons. need more info:
Is it Inverter typr generator?
measure output voltage - anything?
take back cover off generator itself, measure continuity of stator and rotor, and visually inspect windings. You'll find AVR module there too, it may be the reason.
