SOURCE: Proper pin numbers to install inserts in a Dell SATA 34 pin GX270 motherboard

Hi there.
Get a strong flashlight and a magnifying glass (if you have one). On the motherboard look for the front panel, it should be marked PWR and coloured green, also the plug that connects to it should be marked PWR_SW. On some boards there are no colours but the markings are the same, so take a good close look.
Have a look at these pictures for an idea >>>>>>

SOURCE: Front Panel help for Dell Dimension 4600

Most Dell's have a connector that all of the front panel wires go in to. That connector should only fit one place on your motherboard. If you use a flashlight you may be able to see some writing on the motherboard that will lead you to where it goes.

SOURCE: I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with M3918

That Xonar is an amazing card, as an aside are you able to do bitstream successfully to your receiver? Dolby HD and DTS HD successfully? If so I may just end up getting one of these cards :).

You should be able to do what you are looking for by just almost "breaking" that 10 pin straight line connector in half. I believe half of it is the AC97 and the other half is the HD connection, you can't really hurt anything by trying it one way or the other. Just try hooking 5 out of the 10 pins onto each row of jacks and test. You should also need to enable the FP headphone support in the Xonar software, it will look something like this screenshot here... as long as it is detecting the front panel jack correctly:

I hope that picture shows up large enough....

SOURCE: DELL GX 520 Motherboard power led

you should replace the motherboard or the power supply of your computer. to determine which one to replace is a simple test. disconnect all that is connected to the motherboard and if the problem is still there, then the problem is the motherboard.

Green light comes on with CR3J1 beside it

The green light with "CR3J1" beside it on your Dell Dimension 4700 is most likely an indicator for the power supply. The "CR3J1" is a code for the power supply model number. The green light indicates that the power supply is functioning correctly and providing power to the system.
If you are experiencing any issues with your system, it is recommended to contact Dell Support for further assistance

I have a dell dimension 4700, soild green light, no beeps, no picture. just bought a used power supply.

First to be check is your power supply. Used power supply or brand new ones, does not matter as long as it is working properly, with correct voltage and ampere rating. Check your power supply with a voltmeter. Please take note also the total watts you need.. If your power supply is running good, problems will go down the line, the Motherboard. Remove all devices (hard disk, cards, memory, etc) just the motherboard, just to see if the motherboard is working right. Your should be hearing a beep sound indicating that the board is alive. If yes, you may reinstall the rest of the devices you removed.

What kind is motherbourd

The Dell Dimension 2400 motherboard is proprietary to the Dell Mitac Chassis. It should work in any Dell 2300/2350/2400/4600/4700 case. The main item is the Dell specific power/control panel connection. If you move the board take the control panel with it.
(Personally, it isn't worth the effort)

If the LED Is SOLID amber, it is likely either a component connected to the Motherboard or a bad motherboard

Have a dell dimension 4700 with orange steady light?

Turn the machine off and unplug the AC power then hold the power button in for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power. Plug it back in and turn it on, when you see the Blue DELL word press CRL+ALT+D and this should run a diagnostic on the hard drive. If it runs ok you will get a pass or fail on the hard drive. If you cannot get the diags to run you might have a bad power supply or motherboad/processor. I would find a known good power supply and try it before the motherboard.

Trying to put 4700 back in service. When I plugged in power cord, the front amber light came on and stayed on. No lights on back (all off) and fan runs at high speed. Any thoughts? Thanks- Terry in Texas

System is in a NO POST mode.

Remove all external connections except power, pull any PCI Expansion cards, Make sure the 4 pin connection for the CPU is connected to the Motherboard. If the symptoms do not change, then the motherboard is most likely bad.
